Nick Buoniconti Dead - Miami Dolphins Hall of Famer Dies at 78

Nick Buoniconti has sadly died.

The Miami Dolphins Hall of Famer died at the age of 78, his loved ones confirmed on Wednesday (July 31).

Nick died in Bridgehampton, New York, according to his family spokesman. His cause of death is not yet known, although it was revealed in 2017 that he was suffering from memory loss and could no longer use his left hand.

“Today, with a heavy heart and profound sorrow, my family and the entire Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and Buoniconti Fund community mourn the loss of a man who was truly larger than life, my father, NFL Hall of Famer Nick Buoniconti. My dad has been my hero and represents what I have always aspired to be: a leader, a mentor and a champion,” his son Marc said in a statement.

Nick played for the Patriots in the ’60s before being traded to the Miami Dolphins. He also led the team to back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1973 and 1974. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001.
