Brad Pitt's Request to Be Removed From Hurricane Katrina Home Construction Lawsuit Denied

Brad Pitt remains a defendant in a lawsuit involving alleged shoddy construction of homes in New Orleans, Civil District Court Judge Rachael Johnson ruled earlier in the month.

The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor, as well as other directors of his Make It Right Foundation, asked to be removed from a lawsuit filed by two homemakers for alleged shoddy construction of some homes the foundation built after Hurricane Katrina back in November of 2018.

Ron Austin, an attorney for the plaintiffs, confirmed that the request was denied, according to NOLA.com.

The Make It Right Foundation built 109 affordable homes in the area after the hurricane. After the project mostly concluded by 2015, there were complaints about construction and materials used.

Homeowners Jennifer Decuir and Lloyd Francis sued Make It Right for alleged deficient construction causing “mold, poor air quality, structural failures, electrical malfunctions, plumbing mishaps, rotting wood and faulty heating, ventilation and cooling.”

Make It Right then sued the principal architect, John C. Williams. The class action lawsuit could affect the entire Make It Right Foundation.

“We’re not necessarily worried about the publicity as much as justice. Our priority is to find the responsible parties,” said the plaintiff’s lawyer.
