Taylor Swift Makes a Statement With First AMAS Speech of the Night (Video)

Taylor Swift didn’t address the Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta situation directly during her first acceptance speech of the night at the 2019 American Music Awards, but she still made a big statement while accepting an award.

The 29-year-old singer won the award for Favorite Album – Pop/Rock for Lover on Sunday (November 24) at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Taylor made sure to thank her current record label, which has given her the rights to own all of her master recordings, unlike former label Big Machine.

“This is amazing. That was a really tough category, wow. Thank you to the fans. I would love to have an opportunity to thank the people I made this album with because they’re amazing and we had so much fun,” Taylor said before listing off some names.

“Okay, wow… I did not think I was going to win this one. This album really felt like a new beginning. Also really love my record label, Universal and Republic. Monte Lipman, Lucien Grange, thank you for being so generous to me and allowing me to make whatever music I want to make. As a songwriter it’s so thrilling to me that I get to keep doing that,” she added.
