Who Is Hosting Oscars 2021?

You may be wondering why there appears to be no set host for the 2021 Oscars. That’s because this year, the show has elected to forego a host.

In fact, the Academy Awards has not employed a host for their show since Jimmy Kimmel hosted in 2018. Kevin Hart was supposed to host the 2019 show, but due to some offensive past tweets that had resurfaced, he stepped away from the gig.

There may be a reason why some celebrities kept passing on the gig.

Jimmy Kimmel was the last host of the Oscars, and he revealed they paid him only $15,000 to take on the job.

“I think it’s illegal to pay nothing,” Jimmy said on KROQ‘s “Kevin & Bean” when he revealed that he would be paid $15,000 for the gig. “I’m not sure I was supposed to reveal this. But nobody told me not to. I consider this their fault.”

“They asked like 14 people and they all said no and then there was me,” Jimmy added about saying “yes” to the gig. “I absolutely was surprised…The producers and the Academy went through a long list of names, and in the end, they decided that – since I am already right across the street from where they do the show – I was the closest person to host.”
