The musical Jagged Little Pill, which uses the music of Alanis Morissette, is officially heading to Broadway!
The show had its world premiere production last summer at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass. and the musical been revised for the upcoming Broadway production. New York audiences will get to see the show in Fall 2019, though a specific date has not yet been revealed.
Jagged Little Pill used Alanis‘ music to tell a contemporary story about a seemingly picture-perfect family that was actually spinning out of control behind closed doors. The show deals with such issues as sexual assault, gender identity, and opiate addiction.
βWe were quite happy with the work we did on our original musical, but you can always keep improving, and the changes we have made are many, many little ones that add up to a more streamlined, layered, and deeper show,β producer Eva Price told The New York Times. βThe world has continued to change, and that has affected the writing and the direction.β
Casting for the Broadway production has not yet been announced, but the world premiere production featured Elizabeth Stanley, Sean Allan Krill, Celia Gooding, Derek Klena, Lauren Patten, and Kathryn Gallagher.
