Donald Trump is opening up about how he would have handled the Miss Universe mistake if he still was in charge.

The presidential candidate sold his stake in the Miss Universe organization earlier this year and he called in to The Today Show to discuss the wrong winner being announced by host Steve Harvey.

“I’ll tell you what I think I’d do. I think I’d make ‘em a co-winner. It’d be very cool,” Trump said. “I would recommend that they go have a beautiful ceremony, which is good for the brand and good for Miss Universe, and do a co-winner.”

Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez is speaking out after mistakenly being crowned Miss Universe 2015 during the pageant on Sunday night (December 20) in Las Vegas, Nev.

The 21-year-old Colombian beauty tearfully revealed her thoughts on the mishap backstage right after the show in a video posted to Miss Universe’s Facebook account.

“Everything happens for a reason, so I’m happy for all I did,” Adriadna says in the below video. “I’m so happy. Thank you for voting for me.”

Steve Harvey mistakenly crowned the wrong Miss Universe on Sunday evening (December 20).

The 58-year-old television host accidentally announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner. She immediately took her first walk with her crown but shortly after Steve came back on stage.

He immediately apologized and stated the correct winner was indeed Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.Steve quickly took to his Twitter to formally apologize as well.

“I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible,” he said.

“Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake. I don’t want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants. They were all amazing.”
