Snapchat Issues Second Apology for Ad After Rihanna Puts the Company on Blast

Snapchat is once again apologizing for an ad that ran on the app.

The ad, for a game launched on the app early in the week, featured a “Would You Rather?” question asking users to pick between “slap Rihanna” or “punch Chris Brown.” (You can still see a screenshot of it here.)

After Snapchat issued an initial apology, Rihanna put the company on blast with a scathing post.

“This advertisement is disgusting and never should have appeared on our service. We are so sorry we made the terrible mistake of allowing it through our review process. We are investigating how that happened so that we can make sure it never happens again,” a spokesperson for Snap Inc. said to ABC News on Thursday (March 15).

The game was pulled from the platform and the advertiser has been blocked from the app.

Rihanna Fires Back at Snapchat Over Ad with Chris Brown: 'Shame On You'

Rihanna is firing back at Snapchat over the ad the app ran asking users if they would “rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown.”

“Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!,” Rihanna began in a statement posted to her Instagram Story. “I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to [domestic violence] victims and made a joke of it!!! This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them…but all the women, children, and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven’t made it out yet…you let us know! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-ology away.”

Snapchat apologized and took down the ad, but many users were extremely upset.

Chris was arrested in 2009 for his assault on Rihanna, and spoke about his crime in a later interview.

Snapchat Apologizes for Ad Featuring Rihanna & Chris Brown

UPDATE: Rihanna has responded to the ad and is slamming Snapchat.

Snapchat featured an advertisement that left many fans very upset.

The ad in question asked users if they would “rather slap Rihanna or punch Chris Brown.” You can see the ad here, which was screencapped by a user who wrote, “Is it just me, or is this ad that popped up on my Snapchat extremely tone deaf? Like what were they thinking with this?”

Snapchat has since responded and told the BBC, “The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines. We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened.”

Vanessa Carlton Slams Chris Brown for Posting Her Song on International Women's Day

Vanessa Carlton has slammed Chris Brown for sharing a video of her song “A Thousand Miles” on his Instagram account on International Women’s Day.

Chris posted the video and said, “Mood. This song lit forever.”

Vanessa responded by posting a statement on her Instagram account that said, “Today Chris Brown posted my video. I am now being repeatedly tagged to his account. Being that today is International Women’s Day I feel compelled to draw a line. I support survivors, not perpetrators of domestic violence. I do not want to be associated with an artist that has assaulted women on a day like today. Thank you.”

Chris was arrested in 2009 for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Chris responded to Vanessa‘s post by saying, “I posted a song that was and still is a great song and the artist felt she was doing her duty as a WOMAN to continue to spread this kind of hatred today. I won’t keep it up long. I just hope she knows she is loved and her song is great.”
