Daisy Coleman's Mom Melinda Passes Away By Apparent Suicide

Melinda Coleman, the mother of Daisy Coleman who was the subject the 2016 Netflix documentary Audrie & Daisy, has died by apparent suicide, just four months after Daisy died by suicide.

Daisy passed away at the age of 23 in August of 2020. Daisy‘s sexual assault and prevention organization SafeBAE announced the tragic news about Melinda.

“We are in shock and disbelief to share with our SafeBAE family, that we lost Melinda Coleman to suicide,” a post on SafeBAE’s Instagram reads. Daisy‘s father passed away in a car accident when she was a child. Daisy‘s brother and Melinda‘s son Tristan passed away in 2018 in a car accident.

Audrie & Daisy is an American 2016 documentary film about three cases of rape of teenage American girls, in 2011 and 2012. It premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and debuted on Netflix.

Audrie & Daisy's Daisy Coleman Dead By Suicide at Age 23

Daisy Coleman, who starred in the Netflix documentary Audrie & Daisy, has died by suicide at the young age of 23, her mother has confirmed.

Daisy‘s mom Melinda told TMZ, “She was my best friend and amazing daughter. I think she had to make make it seem like I could live without her. I can’t. I wish I could have taken the pain from her!” Melinda called the police to do a welfare check on her daughter and her body was discovered on Tuesday (August 4).

Daisy was one of the subjects of the documentary. Daisy said she was raped at the age of 14 after being plied with alcohol at a house party in Missouri. No one was ever convicted of the crime.

Melinda continued, “She never recovered from what those boys did to her and it’s just not fair. My baby girl is gone.”
