Dev Patel shares a cute moment with his Lion co-star Sunny Pawar while attending The Weinstein Company’s Pre-Oscar Dinner on Saturday night (February 25) at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 26-year-old actor is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the film and he won the BAFTA for his performance in Lion earlier this month.

Sunny makes his debut acting performance in the film as the younger version of Dev‘s character and lots of people argued that the Oscars should have a category for younger actors specifically for superb work like his!

Dev and Sunny shared some absolutely adorable moments while hanging out at the event, presented in partnership with Bvlgari and Grey Goose. See photos in the gallery!

Dev beat out Nocturnal Animals‘ Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Florence Foster Jenkins‘ Hugh Grant, Hell or High Water‘s Jeff Bridges, and Moonlight‘s Mahershala Ali. He is also up for the same award at the Oscars in two weeks.

Lion is tackling some important issues ahead of Oscars weekend.

Two of the movie’s stars Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel stepped out at the Lion premiere at Cinema Gaumont Opera on Friday (February 10) in Paris, France.

The day before, the Los Angeles Times ran a For Your Consideration ad for the film which confronted Donald Trump‘s travel ban.

“It took an extraordinary effort to get 8-year-old actor Sunny Pawar a visa so that he could come to America for the very first time. Next year, that might not be an option,” the ad read.

Although Sunny‘s Oscar attendance does not seem to be in question, other nominees like Iranian director Asghar Farhadi will not be attending the ceremony in light of recent political events.

Dev Patel has revealed who he’s bringing as his date to the 2017 Academy Awards!

“It’s my mom, yeah. Momma Patel. I gotta be careful with her though,” the 26-year-old Oscar-nominated Lion actor told Jimmy Fallon while making an appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday (February 8) in New York City.

However, Dev does have some concerns about bringing his mother after having a rather awkward encounter with Daniel Craig at the BAFTA‘s in 2009.

“I took her for Slumdog Millionaire, we went to the BAFTA’s in London. She was at the after-party, this mad Indian woman, and a crowd starting forming around her. She was talking to Daniel Craig,” Dev noted. “She was going on about how much she loves James Bond. She said, ‘Oh my god, you’re my favorite bond, Pierce, I just think you’re fantastic!’ She thought he was Pierce Brosnan. He very graciously corrected her.”

Dev recently spoke out against President Trump‘s travel pan and why it “terrifies” him in a way.

“It was quite overwhelming, very sad. It’s kind of a strange situation when you’re walking a red carpet and at the same time people are out marching the streets because of so much strife in the air,” he said on CNN‘s New Day. “I’m not an American, so I tread very carefully when I say this, but I’m a product of immigrants. My parents came from Nairobi in Kenya and moved to London… they’ve been nothing but in service of the country they live in and completely proud to be British.”

Oscar nominees including Justin Timberlake, Viola Davis and Naomie Harris all stepped out to celebrate their nominations!

The trio attended The Hollywood Reporter’s Nominee Night on Monday (February 6) at Spago in Beverly Hills, Calif.

They were also joined by fellow nominees Isabelle Huppert, Dev Patel, Faye Dunaway, Sunny Pawar, Glen Powell, Auli’i Cravalho, Annalise Basso and Emmanuelle Chriqui.

During the event, Justin, who is nominated for his song “Can’t Stop the Feeling” from Trolls, spilled on his plans for Oscar night.

“We’ll try to sneak a flask in,” Justin joked.
