Joaquin Phoenix poses alongside You Were Never Really Here director Lynne Ramsay as they arrive at the 2019 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday afternoon (February 23) in Santa Monica, Calif.

The 44-year-old actor kept things super cool in black zip-up hoodie over a white dress shirt and a black tie as he was joined on the blue carpet alongside John Cho.

Other stars at the awards show included Raul Castillo, Christian Malheiros, and Joaquin‘s You Were Never Really Here co-star Ekaterina Samsonov.

All four actors are up for awards at the show.

Joaquin Phoenix got some support from girlfriend Rooney Mara at the premiere of You Were Never Really Here!

The 43-year-old actor and director stepped out at the event on Tuesday night (April 3) at Metrograph in New York City.

He was also joined at the event by cast mates Judith Roberts and Ekaterina Samsonov as well as director Lynne Ramsay.

You Were Never Really Here follows a traumatized veteran who is unafraid of violence and tracks down missing girls for a living.

The film is set to hit theaters on April 6th.

Joaquin Phoenix is joined by his young co-star Ekaterina Samsonov while attending the screening of their movie You Were Never Really Here during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Saturday night (May 27) at Palais des Festivals in Cannes, France.

They posed on the red carpet alongside co-stars Alex Manette and John Doman, as well writer/director Lynne Ramsay.

Earlier in the day, Joaquin, Ekaterina, and Lynne posed for photographers at a photo call.

You Were Never Really Here is about how a war veteran’s attempt to save a young girl from a sex trafficking ring goes horribly wrong.
