Gal Gadot Competed With 3 Stars to Play Wonder Woman in the DCEU (Including One Actress Who Said She 'Never' Had a Chance)

Gal Gadot had already established herself in the action world with her portrayal of Gisele Yashar in the Fast & Furious franchise when she became Wonder Woman, the leading lady of the DCEU.

The actress joined the DC Comics franchise alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill and was lauded as one of the brightest lights for her portrayal of Diana Prince in 2016′s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Since then, Gal has reprised the role in several projects, including two solo movies. There have been ongoing questions about her future in the franchise.

She’s synonymous with the character, but Gal had to audition for it and faced some stiff competition.

In fact, we can say for a fact that she faced off against at least three other actresses to land the part. Of the three, two of them have opened up about their experience auditioning. One of them even explained why they knew that they “never” had a chance to land it.

Gal Gadot opened up about a project from her past, one from her future and one that sadly did not work out for her in a new interview with Flaunt.

The 38-year-old Wonder Woman actress reflected on some of the highlights of playing the Evil Queen alongside Rachel Zegler in the latest retelling of Snow White.

She also discussed her work in the Fast & Furious franchise and reprising her role in 2023′s Fast X. In the process, she talked about the role that the popular film series played in changing the way that women are portrayed in movies.

Gal even spilled on Greta Gerwig‘s box office-dominating Barbie, which she was approached about starring in before Margot Robbie was cast. She revealed the relationship that she shares with the actress who was ultimately cast to portray Stereotypical Barbie and touched on a possible collaboration in the future.

Despite Gal Gadot's Recent Quotes, 'Wonder Woman 3' is Not in the Works at DC (Report)

Gal Gadot has been teasing plans for the future of Wonder Woman, but there are conflicting reports about her continued involvement in the DC film franchise.

The 38-year-old actress brought the iconic hero to life in several films, including solo outings in 2017 and 2020. A third solo movie was in the works with director Patty Jenkins. Reports suggested that it had stalled in December 2022.

The fate of DC’s heroes has been unclear since James Gunn and Pater Safran assumed control of the company. Actors such as Henry Cavill have been let go to focus on new retellings, leading many to believe that Gal was also done in her role.

However, in recent interviews Gal has suggested that she was set to return for a third Wonder Woman movie. Sources are suggesting otherwise.

Gal Gadot Reveals the 'A-Ha Moment' She Had After 'Wonder Woman' Success

Gal Gadot has a new thriller movie heading to Netflix next week and she’s opening up about making action flicks.

The 38-year-old actress spoke with Extra prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike to promote her new film Heart of Stone.

Gal, who also produced the movie, talked about the importance of having her character written as a woman instead of rewriting a previously existing script to turn a male lead into a female character.

“That was something that was really important for me, that we tell this story from a female perspective, because I’m playing her. And it needs to be organic and authentic to who the character really is,” she said.
