'Avengers' Easily Beats Out 'Hot Pursuit' at Weekend Box Office

Avengers: Age of Ultron continued its box office reign with an additional $77.1 million gross!

According to THR, the movie, which stars Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, and Scarlett Johansson, hit the $300 million mark domestically in only 10 days, while its world total is at a whopping $875.3 million.

Taking the No. 2 spot was Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara‘s new comedy Hot Pursuit, which opened to $13.3 million.

Coming in third was Blake Lively‘s new film Age of Adaline, which made an additional $5.6 million in its third weekend.

Rounding out the top five were the star-studded Furious 7 and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, which brought in $5.2 million and $5.1 million, respectively.

Meanwhile, Pitch Perfect 2 opened overseas to an impressive $8.8 million. Jack Black and James Marsden‘s dark comedy The D Train grossed $469,185, while the zombie thriller Maggie, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Abigail Breslin opened to $125,000 from 79 theaters.
