Tali Lennox-Fruchtmann, daughter of musician Annie Lennox, was kayaking in the Hudson River near the Staatsburgh State Historic Site when it capsized on Saturday morning (August 8) in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
According to People, the 22-year-old artist’s photographer/model boyfriend Ian Jones, 32, is currently missing.
Dutchess County Sheriff’s Captain John Watterson told the mag that both the strong current and alcohol may have contributed to the accident, which is under investigation.
“The current in the Hudson River is very strong and we believe the current played a role in the kayak capsizing, and once the two got in the water it was difficult for them to stay together,” he said.
Tali was saved by a passing boat. Meanwhile, more than 50 people helped search for Ian on the first day, as Marine patrol and a dive team continue their search.
