Spike Lee takes on a classic Greek play for his new film Chi-Raq, set to be released on Amazon on Dec 4th.

Based on Aristophanes’ Greek play, Lysistrata, the new film follows gang violence by a few men in a neighborhood in Chicago.

Similar to the play’s plot-line, a powerful female member of the community, Lysistrata, bands all the women together to withhold sex from their partners to put an end to the fighting and bloodshed. Predictably this leads to the inevitable decision of the men to choose weapons or their women.

The film boasts a star studded cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Nick Cannon, Angela Bassett, John Cusack, Dave Chappelle, Wesley Snipes, Jennifer Hudson, and Teyonah Parris playing Lysistrata.

This is also Amazon Studios first featured film.

Elizabeth Banks flashes a smile as she hits the red carpet at the premiere of her latest film Love & Mercy held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Tuesday (June 2) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 41-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-stars John Cusack and Paul Dano, writer Brian Wilson, as well as Hunger Games co-star Jena Malone, Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Beals, Carnie Wilson, Hayley Orrantia, and Kate Flannery who all came out to show their support.

Also starring Julianne Moore and John Cusack, the movie follows the Weiss family, who are making their way in Hollywood rife with money, fame, envy, and relentless hauntings.

Stafford Weiss (Cusack) is a famed TV self-help therapist with an A-list celebrity clientele. Meanwhile, Cristina Weiss (Olivia Williams) has her work cut out managing the career of their disaffected child-star son, Benjie (Evan Bird), a fresh graduate of rehab at age 13.

Yet unbeknownst to them, another member of the Weiss family has arrived in town – mysteriously scarred and tormented Agatha (Wasikowska), just released from a psych ward and ready to start again. She soon works her way into a friendship with a limo driver (Pattinson) and becomes personal assistant to unraveling actress Havana Segrand (Moore), who is beset by the ghost of her legendary mother, Clarice (Sarah Gadon). But Agatha is on a quest for redemption – and even in this realm of the artificial, and the unearthly, she’s determined to find it, no matter what it takes.

Map to the Stars hits theaters on February 27!

Check out the new trailer for Jackie Chan‘s upcoming film Dragon Blade, which hits theaters in China in February!

The 60-year-old actor is joined in the action flick by John Cusack and Adrien Brody.

Dragon Blade, which is reportedly one of the most expensive Chinese-language films to be made, centers on “lost Roman soldiers who navigate their way through China.”

The U.S. release date for the Daniel Lee-directed film has not been announced. Stay tuned!

“I’ve actually never sung with her. We have really different taste in music so we always get into arguments, but like, her being on that is the most exciting thing to happen to me in such a long time. I’m SO excited about it.
