Karim Benzema, an international soccer star who plays for Real Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo, was arrested in connection to the possible blackmail of Lyon player Mathieu Valbuena, the BBC reports.

Mathieu is featured in a sex tape and police in Versailles are trying to figure out if Karim, 27, was trying to extort his French teammate (they both play for the national team.) Allegedly, Karim mentioned the sex tape during a team meeting back in October.

Karim was in trouble with the law back in 2009 when he was accused of sleeping with an under-age sex worker. He was cleared of those charges.

Recently, Karim has been linked romantically with Rihanna. The pair were spotted out together several times.

The 27-year-old “American Oxygen” singer was seen leaving the nightclub with rumored boyfriend Karim Benzema.

Rihanna‘s former boyfriend Chris Brown was also spotted going into the club five minutes after her and leaving at the same time as her. We wonder if the exes ran into each other inside!

The 27-year-old singer was joined for the night out at the club by Real Madrid soccer player Karim Benzema, who left from the main entrance while Rihanna snuck out the back.

There have been tons of dating rumors floating around about the pair, though Us Weekly says they’re not officially a couple yet.

“They’re definitely hooking up,” the source told the mag. “She’s not officially dating him.”

Later that evening, the 27-year-old entertainer went to a diner at 5am. Real Madrid soccer player Karim Benzema was also seen leaving the diner at the same time.

Last year on Twitter, Karim responded to one of Rihanna‘s World Cup tweets with, “@rihanna No pain no gain, thanks for the support!,” and many fans took notice!
