Vin Diesel Shares How Paul Walker's Passing Led Him to 'Xander Cage'

Vin Diesel gives the camera a smoldering stare on the cover of #legend magazine’s January/February issue, on newsstands now.

Here’s what the 49-year-old actor had to share with the mag:

On how Paul Walker’s passing affected his involvement in xXx: Return of Xander Cage: “I was close to not being able to find a window to do xXx. But there was a greater need for me to do it because I had come off the very intense experience of shooting [Furious 7] and all that entailed, including the loss of a brother [Paul]. Because that was so intense, I had to choose xXx. I had to shoot that, literally, so I could smile and laugh again because the character I’d been playing was so brooding and had forced me to go to such a dark place, doing it without someone that I loved.”

On Helen Mirren as a fan:Helen Mirren, the wonderful and amazing Helen Mirren, accosted me at a Golden Globes party and basically threatened to beat me up if she wasn’t going to be in one.”

Vin Diesel Says Paul Walker Inspired Him to Have Children

Vin Diesel is remembering his late friend Paul Walker.

The 49-year-old Furious 7 star attended a Reach Out Worldwide charity event with Paul‘s father, Paul Walker III, and his brother Cody on Saturday (September 17) where he opened up about how Paul inspired him to have children.

Paul was very instrumental in my segue into fatherhood,” Vin said. “He was the one that told me to go to the hospital. He’s the one that told me to cut the umbilical cord. He told me to cut the umbilical cord! [He was] the only person, in California, that knew I was about to have a child.”

Vin continued, “He must’ve been God-sent because he put me on the right path. He set me up. And when we did the first Fast & Furious, I was already 30 years old or something, but he was a father. When we were in the cars in between takes, he would tell me, ‘Hey, Vin, it’s not a scary thing to become a father’ [and] give me all the good advice. Next thing I know, I am a dad … [He] is why I named my daughter Pauline because of the credit that Paul Walker deserves in my personal life.”

'The Fast & the Furious' to be Re-Released in Theaters for 15th Anniversary

The original The Fast and the Furious film is set to be re-released in theaters this summer to celebrate the film’s 15th anniversary!

The studio announced today that the film will return to theaters on June 22 for a limited nationwide run to commemorate the milestone.

“Fifteen years ago my life changed forever. Dom was born… Little did I know back then what that really meant,” the film’s star Vin Diesel told EW in a statement. “The brotherhood formed with Brian, the love personified in Letty and the sense of family initiated by Mia… It is surreal that this film has held up all the years and led to so much more. Proud of our Fast saga family. From studio to crew, thank you all.”

Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, and more also starred in the original 2001 movie.

Paul Walker's Daughter Awarded $10 Million in Crash Lawsuit

It was just revealed that Paul Walker‘s daughter Meadow reached a $10.1 million settlement with the driver of the vehicle in which her father passed away.

A lawyer for the 17-year-old told TMZ that the basis of the settlement was to partly blame driver Roger Rodas for the fatal accident.

The settlement was actually reached 2014, but remained under the radar because it was not filed under Meadow‘s name.

“The amount paid by the estate of Roger Rodas into a trust for Meadow Walker only covers a fraction of what her father would have earned as an international movie star had his life not tragically been cut short,” the lawyer explained.

Meadow is still in the middle of a lawsuit against Porsche AG for “producing a vehicle that was defective and caused Paul Walker‘s death.”
