'Downton Abbey' Movie - Opening Weekend Box Office Numbers Revealed!
Downton Abbey is still a hit!
The big-screen continuation of the British TV series brought in $31 million across 3,079 theaters in its opening weekend, Variety reported on Sunday (September 22).
The movie topped the box office over new additions like Ad Astra and Rambo: Last Blood, which are still competing for a second place slot.
The Michael Engler-directed Downton Abbey movie, which features a majority of its original television cast, has also brought in $41 million worldwide, bringing the overall tally to $61.8 million.
The film currently has an 85% Fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes.
“Audiences were clearly ready to come back to Downton and visit the Crawleys and all the familiar faces upstairs and downstairs. At its core, it’s a story about family and audiences, both original fans and newcomers, are uplifted by that laughter and joy of the film.” said Focus Features exec Lisa Bunnell in a statement.
