Danny Pino has joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming Dear Evan Hansen movie!

The 46-year-old actor, best known for his work on shows like Cold Case and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, will be playing a role that is being reconceived from the Broadway show.

The story revolves around “Evan Hansen, a high schooler with social anxiety. He unintentionally gets caught up in a lie after the family of a classmate who committed suicide mistakes one of Hansen’s letters for their son’s suicide note.”

Danny will be playing the stepfather of the student who commits suicide. Amy Adams will be playing the mother of the student.

In the Broadway musical, Larry Murphy is the father of the student, Connor, but the character will now be a stepfather, according to THR.

Ben Platt, Kaitlyn Dever, Colton Ryan, Amandla Stenberg, and Nik Dodani are also starring in the movie version of the Tony-winning musical.
