'Eternals' Producer Reveals New Details About Angelina Jolie's Character Thena

Angelina Jolie is set to star as Thena in Marvel’s upcoming, Eternals, and a new bit of information about her character was just revealed.

In a new interview, producer Nate Moore opened up about Angelina‘s portrayal of Thena, and the very real-life illness she suffers from.

During a set visit, Nate revealed in a round table press interview (via ScreenRant) that Thena suffers from a form of memory loss, due to her long life.

“She has a tragic story in our film in that she comes down with something called Mahd Wy’ry. If you guys are fans of comics, Mahd Wy’ry is something that can beset an Eternal,” he explained.

Continuing on, Nate added that “it’s a version of dementia. Because of the amount of memories they have, they become unstuck in their own mind, so she starts to forget exactly when she is, so through the course of the movie, Gilgamesh becomes her protector.”

“When we find them in the modern day, they’re living off the grid in a cabin in Australia because she’s too dangerous to have around humans, so it’s a fun arc for Angelina to play.”

Angelina will star opposite Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and more in the movie, which opens in November.
