John Krasinski Says He Joined the MCU to Make Up for Playing a 'Supervillain' on 'The Office'

John Krasinski is opening up about his role in the MCU.

During an appearance on Tuesday night’s (July 26) episode of The Tonight Show, the 42-year-old actor told host Jimmy Fallon that he views his take on Reed Richards as part of his own personal redemption arc.

John joked that his brief turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a way to counter his many years playing Jim on The Office.

“They’re onto me because I played it as a supervillian,” he quipped. “That’s why I did Fantastic Four — to balance it out. I had already done the villain.”

Many fans want John to reprise the role in a full-length Fantastic Four movie, but he played coy when Jimmy asked him about the rumors.

“Seriously, what have you heard? I need to know,” he asked the host. Jimmy also asked about speculation that John‘s wife Emily Blunt would appear alongside him in the film.

Jimmy, I’m gonna tell you on your show, it’s…” John joked, falling backward like he’d been shot. “That’s a Marvel dart. There’s a guy walking around.”

It seems like fans may be right about there being a chance John could star in a full-length Fantastic Four movie, as it was recently announced that there’s a new Fantastic Four film in the works with a 2024 release. Find out more here.
