Meghan Markle Calls Out Asian Female Stereotypes in Return of 'Archetypes' Podcast

Meghan Markle sat down with journalist Lisa Ling and comedian Margarget Cho in an episode titled “The Demystification of Dragon Lady” for her Archetypes podcast.

“The Dragon Lady – the East Asian temptress, whose mysterious foreign allure is scripted as both tantalizing and deadly… this it has seeped into a lot of our entertainment,” Meghan said.

“Movies like Austin Powers and Kill Bill — they presented these caricatures of women of Asian descent as oversexualized or aggressive,” Meghan said, adding that there “many” examples.

“This toxic stereotyping of women of Asian descent… this doesn’t just end once the credits roll,” Meghan continued.

The episode also featured sociologist Nancy Wang Yuen.

Meghan has already sat down with Serena Williams, Mariah Carey, and Mindy Kaling for the Archetypes podcast. New episodes of the podcast were being held following Queen Elizabeth‘s death.
