Christian Bale Confirms He Acted as Mediator Over Amy Adams & David O. Russell 'American Hustle' Drama

Christian Bale is confirming that he did intervene during some drama that went down on the American Hustle set.

The 2013 movie was a big hit, but Amy Adams revealed that during the filming process, she cried many times on set by the director, David O. Russell.

Christian was asked by GQ if he intervened on Amy‘s behalf.

He responded, “Mediator.”

He was then asked “Does that make you feel differently about the finished film, having seen that happen and having to intervene?”

He responded, “No. No, no, no. No. You’re dealing with two such incredible talents there. No, I don’t let that get in the way whatsoever. Look, if I feel like we got anywhere close—and you only ever get somewhere close to achieving; our imagination is too incredible to ever entirely achieve it—but if you get anywhere close to it, and when you’re working with people of the crazy creative talent of Amy or of David, there are gonna be upset. But they are f-cking phenomenal. Also, you got to remember, it was the nature of the characters as well. Right? Those characters were not people who back down from anything, right?”

The writer than asked if this should impact audiences’ enjoyment of the movie.

He responded, “No. No. And, by the way, that’s not me deciding for her, she’s told me that.”

Christian added that he, “I did what I felt was appropriate, in very Irv style,” referencing his character.

Christian also revealed some information about Leonardo DiCaprio in the same interview.
