Christina Applegate Reveals What's Next for Her & Her Plans Don't Involve Big Acting Projects Following her MS Diagnosis

Christina Applegate plans to take a step back from acting.

The 51-year-old Dead to Me star opened up about her future career plans in a recent interview and explained that she was ready to close the door on her time in front of the cameras.

She revealed what she hoped to do next, and it does still involve a creative career in Hollywood.

Christina told the Los Angeles Times that the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards would likely be the last she is nominated in as an actor. She’s in the running for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her work on Dead to Me.

She explained why it felt like time to step back from bigger roles: “Right now, I couldn’t imagine getting up at 5 a.m. and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me at this moment.”

If you weren’t aware, Christina has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) and has been undergoing treatment for it.

Instead of doing screen work, Christina told the outlet that she was considering working in production or development. She also did mention plans to continue taking on sort of role.

She said that she saw herself “doing a s-it ton of voice-overs to make some cash to make sure that my daughter’s fed and we’re homed.”

The actor added that she couldn’t watch her last season of Dead to Me for months after it premiered.

“I don’t like seeing myself struggling,” she explained. “Also, I gained 40 pounds because of inactivity and medications, and I didn’t look like myself, and I didn’t feel like myself.”

Christina recently got very candid about receiving her MS diagnosis.
