1 Star Pauses 'Dancing With The Stars' Production Amid Strikes, Show Is Considering Postponing Premiere

The pressure to postpone Dancing With the Stars amid the Hollywood strikes has forced at least one participant to hit pause.

Two-time Emmy acting nominee and Veep star Matt Walsh is delaying his participation in the hit ABC series following criticism, with the WGA picketing rehearsals in at least two locations around Los Angeles.

In a statement to Deadline, he said: “I am taking a pause from Dancing with the Stars until an agreement is made with the WGA.”

“I was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement,” he continued.

“This morning when I was informed by my union, the WGA, that it is considered struck work I walked out of my rehearsal. I have been and will always stand with my union members of the WGA, SAG and DGA,” he said.

“Beyond our union artists, I am sensitive to the many people impacted by the strike and I hope for a speedy and fair resolution, and to one day work again with all the wonderful people I met at DWTS who tolerated my dancing,” he added.

He is paired with Koko Iwasaki, and is a member of both SAG-AFTRA and WGA.

The premiere will more-than-likely be delayed next week, amid rising pressures on the talent according to Variety.

ABC also just confirmed to Variety that the network is putting plans in place to postpone the Dancing With the Stars premiere.
