'For All Mankind' Season 5: What Will Happen to the Main Cast? Here's What We Know!

Joel Kinnaman For All Mankind

Joel Kinnaman‘s Ed Baldwin will most likely stick around in For All Mankind‘s potential new season.

While season 4 revealed that Ed was struggling with early signs of Parkinson’s disease, his involvement in the show should last for at least one more season.

For All Mankind co-creator Ben Nedivi seemingly confirmed that Joel will reprise his role in the future during an interview with TVLine.

“One of the things we try to do is we have a plan at the beginning of the year, but we leave it flexible enough to see how the story’s coming through, the footage we’re seeing, the scenes, and kind of leave it a little open-ended in the end,” he said. “But pretty early on, we felt like this is not the season where Ed will [die] because, one, we have more story to tell.”

Krys Marshall For All Mankind

Krys Marshall is unlikely to return as Danielle Poole in For All Mankind season 5.

Although the character survived an unlucky gunshot wound in the season 4 finale, Danielle’s story seems to have served its purpose, as she has returned to Earth to settle down with her family.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Krys revealed that she wanted Danielle to die at the end of season 4, however, the show’s writers decided to give her a happier ending.

“It dawned on me that, as much as I love Danielle and as much as she is the connective tissue in our world, it would be the gut punch of the century if we just killed her. So I told them, ‘I think we should kill her,’” she explained. “We had come to the conclusion that she was going to die. This was days before they were going to release the script for the finale, and Ben calls me on a Saturday morning and he’s like, ‘Hey.’ I’m like, ‘Hey.’ He’s like, ‘Danielle’s not going to die.’ I’m like, ‘Nooooo.’ Of course I’m secretly happy that she won’t, but he just said, ‘We’ve thought about it. We wrote a rendition where she dies. The whole room was on board for it, and then it just felt like we couldn’t do it.’”
