CBS cancels The Talk, seemingly to make way for new soap opera The Gates

Following a speculative report, it was confirmed that CBS was ending its daytime talk show The Talk later this year. Reports suggest that it could be doing so to make room for a new soap opera called The Gates.

First announced back in March, The Gates is an all-new series that centers on a Black family. It’s currently being developed as an hour-long show. While there isn’t a timeline for its premiere, The Talk will end its run 15-season run in December. This sets the scene for The Gates to fill the hole that it’s leaving.

A Melrose Place reboot is in the works

Twenty five years after the original sudser went off air, a new Melrose Place reboot is officially in the works! Here’s the best part: Many of the show’s original stars are in talks to return.

Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton are all said to be coming back for the new series, and there’s been a hint about the plot, too.

Here’s the show’s logline: “When one of their dearest friends dies suddenly, the OG residents of Melrose Place gather to honor the deceased. But the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”
