Bus Driver Dies of Coronavirus After Complaining About a Passenger Coughing

Jason Hargrove, a bus driver in Detroit, has died from coronavirus, just two weeks after his Facebook video about a passenger coughing on his bus went viral.

Hargrove recorded an 8-minute video on March 21 in which he criticized a passenger for coughing on the bus without covering her mouth.

“We out here as public workers, doing our jobs, trying to make an honest living to take care of our families, but for you to get on the bus and stand on the bus and cough several times without covering up your mouth… that lets me know that some folks don’t care. Utterly don’t give a f–k, excuse my language,” he said in the video.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan has now revealed that Hargrove passed away from coronavirus on Thursday.

“I don’t know how you can watch it and not tear up. He knew his life was being put in jeopardy, even though he was going to work for the citizens of Detroit every day, but somebody just didn’t care,” Duggan said about the video (via ABC News). “Somebody who didn’t take this seriously and now he’s gone.”

We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to Jason‘s loved ones during this difficult time.
