Disney Announces Delay of New Mary Poppins Ride & Spaceship Earth Update Amid Pandemic

Disney is pushing back updates to some of their exciting attractions.

A representative for Walt Disney World announced on Wednesday (July 15) that they’ll be pushing back their Mary Poppins-inspired ride that was planned to arrive at Epcot’s World Showcase, as well as the update to the Epcot’s classic Spaceship Earth, in Future World, amid the pandemic.

“As with most businesses during this period, we are further evaluating long-term project plans,” the rep told Laughing Place.

The changes were announced back in August of 2019, with the help of Dick Van Dyke, star of the original film, to announce the first-ever attraction themed after the 1964 movie.

Spaceship Earth was set to get a new guide and narration as well. It’s not yet known when the opening date will be for the two attractions, but guests noted upon the park’s reopening this month that Spaceship Earth remains unchanged. See photos from the reopening…
