Gugu Mbatha-Raw will be starring in Apple’s upcoming new thriller series called Surface.

The network announced today that the 37-year-old actress will team up with executive producer Veronica West for the show, which will consist of eight episodes.

While plot details are being kept under wraps at this time – only a psychological thriller as the genre – production for Surface will begin next year.

Gugu, along with Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will also executive produce the series.

Just recently, Gugu has been linked to star in Blood Ties, opposite Kiernan Shipka and Cole Sprouse.

That movie sees Gugu taking on the role of “Detective Reese Rezek, who obsessively investigates the brutal murders of Nancy and Derek Haysom, a seemingly ordinary couple in suburban Virginia.”

Gugu can be seen next opposite Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo in Come Away.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw has landed the lead role in the upcoming movie Blood Ties, a dramatic film based on an article in the New Yorker by Nathan Heller.

The movie will be written and directed by Gemini‘s Aaron Katz. Riverdale‘s Cole Sprouse and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Kiernan Shipka will play a couple in the movie.

Deadline reports that Gugu will play “Detective Reese Rezek, who obsessively investigates the brutal murders of Nancy and Derek Haysom, a seemingly ordinary couple in suburban Virginia. As Reese unravels dark possibilities behind their deaths, two suspects emerge: their daughter, Lizzy (Shipka), and her boyfriend, Jens (Sprouse). Before they can be arrested, the young couple flees for Europe, drawing Reese into an international manhunt and a years-long search for the truth that spanned from 1985-91.”

Blood Ties is expected to be sold at the Toronto Film Festival market.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Keeley Hawes, Keira Knightley, and Suki Waterhouse walk the red carpet together at the premiere of their new movie Misbehaviour on Monday (March 9) at The Ham Yard Hotel in London, England.

The actresses were joined at the event by co-stars Emma Corrin, Clara Rosager, Loreece Harrison, and director Philippa Lowthorpe.

The movie follows the Miss World competition in 1970, where the newly formed Women’s Liberation Movement achieved overnight fame by invading the stage and disrupting the live broadcast of the competition. At the event, Miss Grenada also became the first black woman to be crowned Miss World and in a matter of hours, a global audience had witnessed the patriarchy driven from the stage and the Western ideal of beauty turned on its head.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw is Marvel’s newest star!

The 36-year-old The Morning Show actress has landed a role alongside Tom Hiddleston in the Disney Plus series Loki, Deadline reports.

Details about her role are reportedly being kept under wraps, though it is possibly a female lead.

Also starring in the show are Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino.

Tom plays Loki, “the Asgardian god of mischief and everyone’s favorite Marvel villain, in stories that take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame.” There may also be a link to the May 2021 sequel Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.

Filming is currently taking place in Atlanta for a spring 2021 premiere.

Gugu also starred in Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time and Beauty and the Beast.

George Mackay and Dean-Charles Chapman step out together for the 2020 Newport Beach Film Festival UK Honours held at The Langham Hotel on Wednesday night (January 29) in London, England.

The two stars of 1917 were joined at the event by Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophie Cookson, Alice Eve, Bel Powley, Chiwetel Eliofor, Alex Wolff, Erin Doherty, Richard E. Grant, and Asa Butterfield.

In a recent interview, George and Dean-Charles revealed that there’s a blooper in one of the big scenes of their Oscar nominated film.

There’s a point in the movie where George‘s character Lance Corporal Schofield runs alongside a trench, and in the process, gets run over by his fellow soldiers who are running out – not just once, but twice.

However, it wasn’t exactly planned.

“We had rehearsed for weeks… it was such a big setup, it took five hours to reset… and then we came to do the take… it became a lot more real and I just got hit,” George told PopBuzz. “But the rule was always, unless you hear Sam (Mendes, the director) say ‘stop’, keep going, there could be something in it. It could work and that one of those mistakes that made it in.”

He added, “Also when we were doing it we thought – of course he would get knocked over. Of course that’s going to happen. I’m really pleased that’s in there, I love those little accidents.”

American Horror Story co-stars Billie Lourd and Cody Fern appear together on the “Secret Spell” cover while Sophie Turner takes the cover of “The Devil’s Mansion.”
