The trailer for the upcoming series American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace has officially been released!

Edgar Ramirez is starring as the title character with Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan, the man who murdered the fashion designer in July 1997.

Penelope Cruz stars as Donatella Versace for her first television role.

“You’re not better than me. We’re the same. The only difference is you got lucky,” Darren‘s character Andrew says in the voiceover in the trailer.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace is set to premiere on January 17. Ricky Martin and Max Greenfield also appear on the FX series.

Matt Bomer will be heading behind the camera for the upcoming Ryan Murphy series American Crime Story: Versace!

The 39-year-old actor will be making his directorial debut when he helms an episode of the anthology series.

This won’t be the first time that Matt and Ryan have worked together. Matt has previously starred in several seasons of American Horror Story and has guest starred on Glee and The New Normal. He also received an Emmy nomination for his work in the movie The Normal Heart, which Ryan directed.

Matt is set to direct the eighth episode of Versace, which follows the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace (Edgar Ramirez) by serial killer Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss), according to TV Line.

Darren Criss heads to the beach to film a couple scenes for the upcoming American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace on Tuesday afternoon (September 26) in Malibu, Calif.

The 30-year-old actor was spotted wearing glasses and a white sweater as got into character as Gianni Versace’s murderer Andrew Cunanan.

Late last week, FX released the second teaser promo for the upcoming season of American Crime Story.

American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace is set to premiere in early 2018.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace, the second installment of American Crime Story, just got its very first teaser trailer.

The first look at the upcoming FX series arrived immediately after the premiere of American Horror Story: Cult on Tuesday night (September 5).

The 20-second teaser focuses in on the front gates of the Miami Beach Versace mansion until gunshots echo out, causing doves to go flying into the air.

Executive producer Ryan Murphy directed the premiere episode of the series, which stars Edgar Ramirez, Darren Criss, Ricky Martin and Penelope Cruz.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story airs in 2018.

We have some exciting news for American Crime Story fans!

American Crime Story: Katrina, the planned second season of Ryan Murphy‘s FX anthology series, is still happening, Deadline reports.

Just a couple weeks ago, director Anthony Hemingway let fans know that production was stalled on the new season, which was supposed to air at the beginning of 2018 followed by the third season.

Katrina will now get its source material from the book “Five Days At Memorial” by Pulitzer Prize-winner Sheri Fink.

“I’m confident it will air,” FX Networks CEO John Landgraf said. “[Ryan] Murphy has a great idea for a pivot [and] now it’s in really good shape.”

The project will focus on “the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina at Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans, and the decision by medical staff, led by Dr. Anna Pou, to euthanize critically ill patients after being trapped in the hospital for days without power.”

Sarah Paulson will star as Dr. Pou. No other cast members have been confirmed yet.

Katrina will begin production in the spring and premiere in 2019 as the third season in the ACS franchise, while The Assassination of Gianni Versace will now premiere as season two.

Darren Criss joins his co-stars from The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story during the 2017 TCAs summer press tour on Wednesday (August 9) at the the Fox Studios in Los Angeles.

The 30-year-old actor was joined by Edgar Ramirez and Ricky Martin along with the show’s creator Ryan Murphy as they shared details of the upcoming show.

During the panel, Ryan shared details on why the show will be make an impact on viewers.

“We’re trying to talk about a crime within a social idea,” Ryan said. “Versace, who was [Andrew Cunanan's] last victim, did not have to die. One of the reasons he was able to make his way across the country and pick off these victims, many of whom were gay, was because of homophobia at the time.”

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story premieres in January 2018.

Antonio D’Amico, Gianni Versace‘s partner for 15 years before he was shot outside of his home in Miami Beach, Florida in 1997, is speaking out about American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

“The picture of Ricky Martin holding the body in his arms is ridiculous. Maybe it’s the director’s poetic license, but that is not how I reacted,” Antonio told The Observer. Ricky is playing Antonio in the new show, and Gianni is being played by Edgar Ramirez.

“I felt as if my blood had turned to ice,” Antonio said of what really happened that tragic day. “The house had stained glass windows so we couldn’t see what had happened from inside, so we had to open the gate. I saw Gianni lying on the steps, with blood around him. At that point, everything went dark. I was pulled away, I didn’t see any more.”

Antonio said he would speak to Ricky about playing him.

“It’s getting to know the small things about a relationship,” he added. “For example, Gianni was so ordered and focused at work but in his private life everything was disorganized. He’d leave the bathroom in a mess. At a certain point I said ‘enough’! And when it came to cooking, he didn’t even know how to [boil] an egg.”
