'Magnum P.I.' Saved By NBC After Being Canceled by CBS, Will Get Two More Seasons

The CBS series Magnum P.I. has been saved!

NBC has ordered two more seasons of the action series starring Jay Hernandez, according to Deadline.

The show was canceled by CBS on May 12 and Universal Television, which co-produces the series with CBS Studios, began talks with potential new homes for the network.

Deadline reports that the deal “came down to the wire,” but it’s happening!

'Magnum P.I.' Could Have Season 5; Might Be Rescued From Cancellation By Another Network (Report)

Fans weren’t exactly happy with CBS after the network decided to cancel Magnum P.I. just after the fourth season finale last month, where a very important moment between Magnum and Juliet happened.

CBS Renews 'NCIS' With Mark Harmon to Return, Hands Renewals to 4 Other Shows

Huge NCIS news!

Mark Harmon is returning to the show for a 19th season, CBS confirmed Thursday (April 15), via THR.

Following earlier reports in 2021 that Mark was looking to move on from the role he first originated on JAG back in 2003, he entered negotiations to return for another season upon learning the show would likely end if he retired.

It’s unclear whether he will be returning full-time on the show, as negotiations included the option to appear in a limited number of episodes. It’s not yet known how many episodes will be included in the new season, nor whether this is the final season of the show.

Fans React To Magnum & Juliet Deciding To Get [SPOILER] on 'Magnum P.I.'

Magnum P.I. delivered some huge news on tonight’s episode – where Magnum (Jay Hernandez) and his partner, Juliet Higgins (Perdita Weeks) decided to get married!

It was revealed that Juliet was in danger of having to leave Hawaii for England, after her visa expired, and her plans to get an extension failed.

Magnum suggested to her that the only option really was to get married to get her a green card to stay in Hawaii and at the end of the episode, she agreed.

“I think there will be a fake wedding. #MagnumPI,” one fan wrote after the reveal.

Another added, “MRS MAGNUM I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS TO BECOME TRUE cause yes i know it will sometime #MagnumPI.”

Here’s your first look at Jay Hernandez as Magnum P.I.!

The new CBS show is coming in the fall and is a modern take on the classic series.

The show follows Thomas Magnum (Hernandez), a decorated former Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator in Hawaii.

Perdita Weeks also stars as Juliet Higgins, a disavowed MI:6 agent whose second job is to keep Magnum in line, with the help of her two Dobermans.

Look out for the show on Mondays on CBS in the Fall!

Jay Hernandez Lands Lead Role in 'Magnum P.I.' Reboot!

Jay Hernandez has been cast in the title role of the Magnum P.I. reboot over at CBS!

The 40-year-old actor will play “Thomas Magnum, a decorated ex-Navy SEAL who, upon returning home from Afghanistan, repurposes his military skills to become a private investigator,” Variety reports.

Tom Selleck played the role on the original series, which aired from 1980 to 1988. Tom currently stars on another CBS drama, Blue Bloods.

Jay recently starred in Suicide Squad, the Bad Moms series, Netflix’s Bright, and more.

In addition, CBS also ordered some other shows to series for the upcoming season including female-led cop drama Cagney and Lacey, an LA Confidential adaptation, and the new Murphy Brown revival.
