Moby Cancels Book Tour Amid Natalie Portman Controversy

Moby is no longer going on his Then It Fell Apart book tour across the U.K. and Ireland.

Moby is canceling all upcoming public appearances for the foreseeable future. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase, and Moby is happy to provide signed bookplates to everyone who bought tickets to these events,” reads a note on his official website on Wednesday (May 29).

“I’m going to go away for awhile,” he added on his Instagram.

“But before I do I want to apologize again, and to say clearly that all of this has been my own fault. I am the one who released the book without showing it to the people I wrote about. I’m the one who posted defensively and arrogantly. I’m the one who behaved inconsiderately and disrespectfully, both in 2019 and in 1999. There is obviously no one else to blame but me. Thank you, and I’m sorry.”

The news comes after Moby apologized to Natalie Portman in a statement for writing about his relationship with the actress without telling her beforehand.

As some time has passed I’ve realized that many of the criticisms leveled at me regarding my inclusion of Natalie in Then It Fell Apart are very valid. I also fully recognize that it was truly inconsiderate of me to not let her know about her inclusion in the book beforehand, and equally inconsiderate for me to not fully respect her reaction,” he wrote.

Moby Publicly Apologizes to Natalie Portman - Read His Statement

Moby is speaking out with a public apology to Natalie Portman.

The 53-year-old singer wrote about his relationship with the actress in his new memoir and he is apologizing for not telling her beforehand.

Natalie released a statement in which she said they never actually dated and she thought he was a “creepy” older man. He then said she lied in her statement.

Now, Moby is speaking out with an apology.

“As some time has passed I’ve realized that many of the criticisms leveled at me regarding my inclusion of Natalie in Then It Fell Apart are very valid,” Moby said in the statement. “I also fully recognize that it was truly inconsiderate of me to not let her know about her inclusion in the book beforehand, and equally inconsiderate for me to not fully respect her reaction.”

“I have a lot of admiration for Natalie, for her intelligence, creativity, and animal rights activism, and I hate that I might have caused her and her family distress,” he added. “I tried to treat everyone I included in Then It Fell Apart with dignity and respect, but nonetheless it was truly inconsiderate for me to not let them know before the book was released.”

“So for that I apologize, to Natalie, as well as the other people I wrote about in Then It Fell Apart without telling them beforehand,” he concluded. “Also I accept that given the dynamic of our almost 14 year age difference I absolutely should’ve acted more responsibly and respectfully when Natalie and I first met almost 20 years ago.”

Moby Says Natalie Portman Is Lying About Their Relationship

Moby is speaking out to respond to Natalie Portman‘s recent statement about their former relationship.

The 53-year-old singer wrote about his relationship with Natalie in his new memoir and she spoke out to claim she never actually dated him.

“I was surprised to hear that he characterized the very short time that I knew him as dating because my recollection is a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school,” Natalie told Harper’s Bazaar UK.

“He said I was 20; I definitely wasn’t. I was a teenager. I had just turned 18,” she added.

Moby says “it hurts to be lied about” and provided photos to prove they spent time together.

Natalie Portman Denies Dating Moby, Describes Him as 'Creepy'

Natalie Portman is speaking out to respond to Moby‘s claim that they previously dated.

The 53-year-old singer just released his new memoir, in which he writes about meeting Natalie, 37, backstage at one of his concerts.

“I was a bald binge drinker who lived in an apartment that smelled like mildew and old bricks and Natalie Portman was a beautiful movie star. But here she was in my dressing room, flirting with me,” Moby wrote in the book, as revealed in an excerpt in The Times. “For a few weeks I had tried to be Natalie’s boyfriend, but it hadn’t worked out. I thought that I was going to have to tell her that my panic was too egregious for me to be in a real relationship, but one night on the phone she informed me that she’d met somebody else. I was relieved that I’d never have to tell her how damaged I was.”

Natalie has a much different recollection of what happened between her and Moby.

“I was surprised to hear that he characterized the very short time that I knew him as dating because my recollection is a much older man being creepy with me when I just had graduated high school,” Natalie said in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK. “He said I was 20; I definitely wasn’t. I was a teenager. I had just turned 18. There was no fact checking from him or his publisher – it almost feels deliberate. That he used this story to sell his book was very disturbing to me. It wasn’t the case. There are many factual errors and inventions. I would have liked him or his publisher to reach out to fact check.”

Moby Opens Up About Dating Pre-Fame Lana Del Rey in New Memoir

Moby is opening up about dating Lana Del Rey!

The 53-year-old musician detailed his experience with Lana, then known as Lizzy Grant, in his new memoir, Then It Fell Apart.

According to Moby, he had his first date with the aspiring musician named “Lizzie Grant” in 2006. They went to a vegan macrobiotic restaurant and then to his newly renovated five-floor penthouse in the El Dorado building on Central Park West in New York City.

“We’d kissed at the bar at 4 a.m., just as the place was closing, and I’d asked her to come home with me. She’d smiled and said no, she wouldn’t go home with me after just meeting me, but she would happily go on a date if I called her and asked her out. I called her the next day, and we talked for thirty minutes about music and politics and growing up in the suburbs. She was beautiful, smart, and charming; making plans to meet up with her was both what I wanted to do and what my new therapist had told me to do,” he wrote.

Later on, the two would go back to his apartment.

“I sat next to her on the piano bench and started kissing her. She kissed me back — but then stopped. ‘What’s wrong?’ I asked. ‘I like you. But I hear you do this with a lot of people.’ I wanted to lie, to tell her that I didn’t, that I was chaste, sane, and ethical. But I said nothing…I walked her downstairs to the twenty-ninth floor and kissed her good night at the bank of the elevators. This wasn’t how I imagined the night ending. I’d assumed that we would end up christening my new apartment with vodka and sex. But to my surprise, this was almost nicer.”
