According to People, the 49-year-old actress and her soon-to-be ex-husband Olivier Martinez “spent a lot of time working on their marriage,” adding that, “it’s been a roller coaster from the start.”

A source close to Olivier told the mag that he “loved being married” and “divorce was never the plan.”

“Olivier is the first person to say that Halle works very hard to provide for her family,” the source added. “When she found out about the lawsuit, she was done.”

The couple was sued for $5 million after a shoving incident with photographers at LAX Airport.

A source close to the couple has opened up to People about the split and revealed that their careers came in between them.

“Everything about her emasculated him: She was beautiful, iconic, employed and the breadwinner,” the source said. “They were living off of her and that entitled him and it enraged him – there was a duality there.”

“Oliver comes from a world where he was easily intimidated by her ability to work and that she was the breadwinner,” a source told People about the split. “He was emasculated by her beauty and her power, and his temper could erupt. He was never physically abusive towards her. He was very possessive in a very kind of caveman way but was never abusive to her or the family.”

The source added, “He had an explosive temper in a way that was profoundly frightening. You never knew when he would explode.”

Halle Berry has filed for divorce from Olivier Martinez for a second time.

The 49-year-old actress originally filed papers earlier this week using pseudonyms in place of their real names. Olivier didn’t agree to using fake names, so he filed his own petition.

Halle just submitted new papers, this time using her real name, Olivier‘s real name, and their son Maceo‘s real name, TMZ reports.

Halle and Olivier released a joint statement earlier in the week confirming their split after a little over two years of marriage.

The 49-year-old actress filed her papers in court on Tuesday morning (October 27), but she used pseudonyms, according to TMZ.

Because Olivier didn’t agree with using fake names in the divorce petition, he had his lawyer file his own papers. It is reportedly important to note who left who in these high profile divorce cases.

Olivier is seeking joint custody of the couple’s two-year-old son Maceo and they have a prenup so other details of the split are already worked out.

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have issued a joint statement confirming their plans to divorce after two years of marriage.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children’s privacy, as we go through this difficult period,” the 49-year-old actress and 49-year-old actor said (via TMZ).
