'Hunger Games' Stars React to Philip Seymour Hoffman's Death

Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s shocking death comes right in the middle of filming for his upcoming movies The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2.

The 46-year-old actor played the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, the new Head Gamemaker in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire who [SPOILER ALERT] is really working as the leader of the rebellion against the Capitol. His character’s role grows in the next two films while leading the rebellion. We will have to wait and see how the studio proceeds with the movie.

“PSH – I am genuinely shocked, saddened and speechless. A truly wonderful man, with a magical touch. My hero. Thoughts are with his family,” Sam Claflin, who plays Finnick Odair, tweeted.

Philip Seymour Hoffman Was Found Dead with Syringe in His Arm, Possibly Heroin Nearby

More details are coming out about Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s death and police sources confirm that he was found with a syringe in his arm.

The 46-year-old actor died on Sunday (February 2) of an apparent drug overdose and the police sources also say they found a clear envelope with what appeared to be heroin nearby the body, according to People.

Philip entered rehab back in May for snorting heroin. He had relapsed in 2012 after staying clean for 23 years.

The family of Mr. Hoffman have released a statement saying they are “devastated by the loss of our beloved” family member. He is survived by his partner, costume designer Mimi O’Donnell, and their three children.

Philip Seymour Hoffman‘s untimely death has shocked the world and now his family has released a statement thanking his fans for their support during this difficult time.

“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone,” the statement read. “This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers.”

The family will not be making any further statements at this time.

Philip is survived by his partner of 15 years Mimi O’Donnell and their three kids – 10-year-old son Cooper Alexander, seven-year-old daughter Tallulah, and five-year-old daughter Willa.

Philip Seymour Hoffman - Dead from Apparent Drug Overdose

Philip Seymour Hoffman has died from an apparent drug overdose, according to Deadline.

The NYPD were called to the scene by one of the 46-year-old actor’s close friends, who found him dead in the bathroom of his apartment this morning at 11:30 am.

An autopsy will be performed on Philip to determine the cause of death and results will come back in a few weeks.

Philip leaves behind son, Cooper Alexander, born in March 2003, and two daughters, Tallulah, born in November 2006, and Willa, born in October 2008, who he shared with costume designer Mimi O’Donnell. Philip and Mimi met while working on his directed play In Arabia We’d All Be Kings in 1999.
