Ricki Lake is feeling free.

The 51-year-old former talk show host revealed her newly shaved head in a candid Instagram post on Thursday (January 2).

“Liberated and Free, Me. First things first, I am not sick. (THANK GOD.) I am not having a mid-life crisis. nor am I having a mental breakdown, though I have been suffering. Suffering mostly in silence off and on for almost 30 years. AND I am finally ready to share my secret. Deep breath Ricki…. Here goes….. I have been struggling with hair loss for most of my adult life,” she wrote.

“It has been debilitating, embarrassing, painful, scary, depressing, lonely, all the things. There have been a few times where I have even felt suicidal over it. Almost no one in my life knew the level of deep pain and trauma I was experiencing. Not even my therapist/s over the years knew my truth. I know that by sharing my truth, I will be striking a chord with so so many women and men. I am not alone in this and my goal is to help others while at the same time unshackle myself from this quiet hell I have been living in,” she continued.

“Ever since I played Tracy Turnblad in the original Hairspray back in 1988 and they triple-processed and teased my then healthy virgin hair every 2 weeks during filming, my hair was never the same. (Yes, that was all my own hair in the film.) From Hairspray to Hairless. :( In my case, I believe my hair loss was due to many factors, yo-yo dieting, hormonal birth control, radical weight fluctuations over the years, my pregnancies, genetics, stress, and hair dyes and extensions. Working as talent on various shows and movies, whether DWTS or my talk show, also took its toll on my fine hair,” she wrote.

Host Nick Cannon joins judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke as they arrive at The Masked Singer Emmy For Your Consideration Event on Tuesday afternoon (June 4) at The Atrium at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles.

The stars of the show stepped out to promote their reality series ahead of Emmy’s season.

Also in attendance at the event was last season’s contestant Ricki Lake, who moderated the panel.

During the panel, Nicole chatted about what drew her to the project.

“It wasn’t all smoke and mirrors,” Nicole explained. “Yes, it’s about the mystery behind who’s behind the mask, but [it’s also about] the vulnerability and the transformation and the journey with who’s behind the mask and what they’re going through and their true story.”

Season two of The Masked Singer is set to premiere on Fox this fall.

Ricki Lake is currently in Ibiza, Spain and she reportedly plans on spreading the ashes of her ex-husband Christian Evans there.

Christian passed away earlier this year after succumbing to mental illness and committing suicide.

Ricki and Christian loved Ibiza when they were a couple and he even proposed to her there, so she reportedly decided to spread his ashes in the city.

“Es Vedra and me. #magical #Ibiza . Bringing my beloved home. #christianevans #loveiseternal �’�🙏😘🌸,” Ricki captioned an Instagram photo of her in town this weekend.

Ricki Lake is opening up about the death of her ex husband Christian Evans after he committed suicide in February. It was not public knowledge that Christian had committed suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound before this interview.

Christian struggled with bipolar disorder and she told People that she wants to help others who are struggling. “I have to spread the word about recognizing this disorder and getting treatment as soon as possible. Christian didn’t want to be labeled as bipolar, but he admitted he was in the note he left. That was him finally owning it. That was him giving me permission to tell his story.”

“We never fought, we never had an argument. He showed up for my kids,” Ricki said of her two sons, Milo, 19, and Owen, 15, from a previous relationship. “He was this quiet force that was just all about love and goodness and wanting to help people.”

“I didn’t know what the hell hit me, because I didn’t know what it looked like, so I didn’t see it coming,” Ricki said of his bipolar disorder. “For me, someone who has lived with him for four years and seen how hard it was for him to get out of bed and be excited for things, I saw him starting to be happy. It presented initially as him being motivated.” Ricki continued, “It was horrific. He just wasn’t the person I had been with for four years.”

“I am going to try my best to honor him by living a full and happy life,” she added. “I don’t know what’s in store for me, but I’m an optimist….I never stopped loving that man. I’m so lucky I got these beautiful years with him.”

Our continued thoughts are with Christian‘s loved ones.

Ricki Lake is speaking out to mourn the death of her ex-husband and “soulmate” Christian Evans.

Christian passed away after a life long struggle with bipolar disorder, Ricki revealed in her Instagram post.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share that my beloved soulmate, Christian Evans has passed. The world didn’t understand this man, but I did,” Ricki wrote in her post.
