Al Roker Addresses Tamron Hall's NBC Exit - Watch Now

Tamron Hall has officially left NBC after she reportedly learned she would be replaced minutes before going on the air.

Al Roker addressed the exit on the show briefly on air.

“As some of you may have heard by now, our good friend Tamron Hall has decided to leave NBC News,” the 62-year-old TV personality said on air. “Personally, Tamron has been not just a co-host on Today for the past three years, but a good friend – and to not just me, but to all of us here. We want to wish her nothing but the best, much continued success, and we cannot wait to see what her next chapter is.”

“The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful,” Tamron released in a statement. “I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you.”

Tamron Hall Found Out Her 'Today Show' Time Slot Would be Replaced Minutes Before Going Live on Air

More details behind Tamron Hall‘s abrupt departure from NBC have started to come out.

Earlier today it was announced that the 46-year-old anchor had decided to quit her jobs with NBC and MSNBC after learning that Megyn Kelly would replace her Today Show time slot.

Now a source is telling People Magazine that Tamron learned she would be losing her job right before going live on air.

“On Friday, minutes before going on MSNBC they told her that she and Al are being taken off the air,” the insider said.

The magazine also reports that Tamron had become a major “team player” for the network, filling in for Savannah Guthrie and Lester Holt on NBC while also taking on additional roles at MSNBC, leaving the networks surprised that she decided not to renew her contract.

Tamron reportedly learned about the time replacement from her agent, instead of from NBC management, which shocked her, but she “went on air and acted like the classy professional that she is.”

The source said that the way Tamron found out played a major reason behind why she decided to leave.

Tamron Hall Quits 'The Today Show' After Learning Megyn Kelly Will Replace Her Time Slot

UPDATE: Al Roker addressed this story live on the air – watch here.

The Today Show is facing a serious hosting shakeup.

NBC announced that Tamron Hall has decided to leave her jobs at NBC and MSNBC after 10 years.

“Yesterday was her last day as an anchor on both networks. Tamron is an exceptional journalist, we valued and enjoyed her work at Today and MSNBC and hoped that she would decide to stay. We are disappointed that she has chosen to leave, but we wish her all the best,” NBC said in a statement.

People Magazine also reports that Tamron was offered a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract to stay with the network, but still decided to leave.

The 46-year-old reporter joined NBC and MSNBC in 2007 before joining The Today Show in 2014 where she hosted the third hour of the show alongside Al Roker.

News of Tamron leaving the networks comes a week after it was reported that Megyn Kelly would most like be taking over her Today Show time slot when Megyn joins the network in September.

Tamron released a statement through the network regarding her departure where she said, “The last 10 years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful. I’m also very excited about the next chapter. To all my great colleagues, I will miss you and I will be rooting for you.”

Alicia Keys Helps Tamron Hall Remove Her Makeup on 'Today'

Alicia Keys hits the stage for a performance on The Today Show on Friday morning (September 2) in New York City.

The 35-year-old singer and new The Voice coach opened up about her decision to go makeup-free at the VMAs last weekend and she inspired host Tamron Hall to take off her makeup live on the show.

“Look, I love makeup too. It’s about how you feel. It’s about who you are. It’s about just being who you are and not letting anyone tell you who you should be. Even this conversation shows our obsession of the standard we hold women,” Alicia said.

Tamron Hall Mourns the Death of Her Best Friend Prince

Tamron Hall, a correspondent for MSNBC and The Today Show, is mourning the death of one of her best friends, Prince.

“We talked for hours Monday and I said he did not sound sick. He assured me he was okay,” Tamron said on The Today Show. “All Saturday he kept saying he was fine and asked me to come to Paisley to see his new piano and for a fan party. I was working and didn’t go. Monday, we exchanged emails after I sent him a video from a restaurant playing a song. I talked about how he was everywhere I go. It was a sweet moment and I had no idea it would be our last time talking. I never imagined it.”

Tamron said that she would talk to Prince on the phone until the early hours of the morning. “The only other person I spoke with or speak with more than Prince is my mother,” she said. “This is the person I communicate with more than anyone.”

“Monday I was in a restaurant and videotaped the restaurant’s ambiance music which was one of his songs,” Tamron said. “I emailed him, and I said, ‘You know you’re everywhere.’ He wrote back, ‘But nowhere at the same time… You’re thinking of me because I’m thinking of you too.’ And I never imagined again that would be my last correspondence with him.”

We continue to send out our thoughts and condolences to all of Prince‘s loved ones during this difficult time.
