Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is revealing why the studio was initially hesitant to cast Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen.
The 37-year-old actor played the iconic vampire in all five Twilight movies, released each year from 2008 to 2012.

Taylor Lautner became a household name playing Jacob in the Twilight franchise, but he had to fight for the part twice. Both times he faced off against some talented actors, too!
If you forgot, the 31-year-old actor played the young werewolf alongside Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in 2008′s Twilight.
However, there were concerns that he wouldn’t be able to bring the character to life in 2009′s sequel New Moon since Jacob went through a massive body transformation and put on a significant amount of muscle and height after turning into a werewolf.
As a result, Taylor had to hit the gym and go through his own body transformation to keep the role. He reflected on almost being recast in a recent interview, crediting Kristen for helping him stay on with the franchise.
We were curious about who else could have brought Jacob to life and did some digging. In the process, we discovered three stars who were up for that part, including author Stephenie Meyer‘s first choice, the actor who almost replaced Taylor in New Moon and a Teen Wolf star.

Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the first film in the saga, just recently revealed that she and Kristen Stewart both crashed the actor’s 37th birthday party back in May.
The directed opened up about the mini reunion during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

Twilight hit theaters 15 years ago today on November 21, 2008 and we’re taking a look back at the author’s dream casting for the roles, before the films were made.
Author Stephenie Meyer, who wrote the Twilight book series, shared a blog post she wrote from 2007 that has recently resurfaced with her original actor and actress choices to play the title characters in the movies!
Back in 2007, before the first movie was made, Stephenie wrote on her blog, “My opinions on the movie matter to no one. I have no influence on what goes on with the movie at all. No one is going to ask who I think should star in Twilight.”
So basically, Stephenie‘s opinions on who should be cast weren’t taken into consideration.
The original movies starred Kristen Stewart as Bella and Robert Pattinson as Edward.
