Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Support Victims of Haiti Earthquake

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie expressed their deep sorrow on Tuesday night (January 12) over the widespread loss of life that occurred in the Haiti earthquake earlier in the day.

“We are devastated by the news from Haiti,” the couple said in a statement to “We will work closely with our good friend Wyclef Jean to support the humanitarian efforts on the island and help those who have been injured and left without homes and shelter.”

Wyclef released his own statement on how YOU can help: “Haiti today faced a natural disaster of unprecedented proportion, an earthquake unlike anything the country has ever experienced. The magnitude 7.0 earthquake – and several very strong aftershocks – struck only 10 miles from Port-au-Prince.

“I cannot stress enough what a human disaster this is, and idle hands will only make this tragedy worse. The over 2 million people in Port-au-Prince tonight face catastrophe alone. We must act now.

President Obama has already said that the U.S. stands ‘ready to assist’ the Haitian people. The U.S. Military is the only group trained and prepared to offer that assistance immediately. They must do so as soon as possible. The international community must also rise to the occasion and help the Haitian people in every way possible.

“Many people have already reached out to see what they can do right now. We are asking those interested to please do one of two things: Either you can use your cell phone to text “Yele” to 501501, which will automatically donate $5 to the Yele Haiti Earthquake Fund (it will be charged to your cell phone bill), or you can visit and click on DONATE.”

You are heartless. Hope you never need help.

Brad and Angie have been helping in Haiti for years.

Unlike you piece of filth they care about people in need.

  • groundcontrol

Of course Brad and Angie lead the way in efforts to help.
Kudos to their continued relevance and generosity in a world overrun with frivolity and self indulgence.

  • an oldie

Good for you, Brad and Angelina.

whats the deal? they are trying to bring more people to the cause the scenes on cnn look crazy I hope Haiti gets all the help they need.

  • Picture is Appropriate

The picture Jared used is one from when JPs were in Haiti w/ Wyclef. The stories on the news about the earthquake are just tragic- so much devastation…everything from orphanges to hospitals. Brad and Angie are wonderful people- always willing to help.

  • iri

angie and brad are like angels, espacially angie, she helped so many people and tried to make their life better… she is an amazing gorgeous woman, so sweet an kind. love angie her family and everyting she is doing for poor people…

  • mew

I find some of the comments regarding this devastation unprecedented, especially when it comes to human suffering. This natural disaster has affected hundreds of lives in Haiti, and all the ignorant comments can focus on is being vicious where the Jolie-Pitts are concerned. Human suffering affects us all. Haiti may not be your country, but the devastation is fully overwhelming. Come on people, live your lives with a purpose. Help others!

  • gracie

Brad and Angie are inspirational, always at the forefront when it comes to giving back, quick to help those in need unlike one ugly horseface who is self serving and vain, never donates cash unles it is an old worn out bag.

  • please help

People are totally totally tired of skunks like you.

Earthquakes can happen anywhere with no notice, many poor people are trapped under pancaked buildings.

I so agree with groundcontrol as to you.

  • Carol

So glad they stood up to help. The world would be better with more stars like Brad, Angie and Wyclef.
Haiti is in distress and all Jen fans like Lynn can do is play a stupid triangle game while people are dying? Sometimes I think Jen fans are a big embarrassment to her.
Why don’t you guys send a text. It’s for a good cause.

  • gracie

May God continue to bless Brad and Angie and their children. Love you.

Jolie is on the board of advisors for the Yéle Haiti Foundation, and with Brad Pitt took time to help Wyclef Jean with his Clean Streets project. Jolie also arranged a deal with People Magazine allowing them to print the FIRST picture showing her visibly pregnant in exchange for a $500,000 donation to the charity.

All My comments on this thread are waiting for moderation. I said I will not ever post here again, I will look elsewhere like others. I was lurking and noticed that someone else is posting unfriendly remarks about the jp and are using the same name that I was using but in lower case letters.Hey, that is still fine with me if that what allowed on this thread. I will forever love the Jolie/pitt family and I will certainly send a donation. PEACE!

Is Jared implying that Brad and Angie made their statement to him re Haiti? WOW, talk about being delusional and misleading.

I’m not against charity. I know so many people(me included) whom do charity and don’t make it big deal. I can’t understand their point.

  • Deb B

@Lynn this is about Haiti. Not your idol. Let something be about others in need some times……

    People please give.

  • an oldie

This is somebody’s tragedy. Don’t make this all about you.

Saw Wyclef tonight on Anderson Cooper, he will be back in Haiti tomorrow.

    Praying for everyone tonight,

Thank you Jared – you’re slowly redeeming yourself for the hit job that was the sjk thread. But not quite – couple more of these and maybe…we’ll see. lol :)

    Lynn @ 01/13/2010 at 2:13 am

    You stupid right?
they make a “big deal” to bring attention to the subject and try that others follow their example.
It’s not always like that. There are many charities and people that Angelina and Brad give money to and support and you don’t know or know years after.
Just recently someone from the SOS Vilages told the media that Angelina was supporting 6 kids since 2003.

dianad1968 @ 01/13/2010 at 1:59 am Is Jared implying that Brad and Angie made their statement to him re Haiti? WOW, talk about being delusional and misleading.
OMG, I just caught that diana – wtf is Jared talking about?? Sigh. You know…come ON, Jared – what are you doing?? One thread, ONE – on this site, where I get to be completely happy no complaints…I have yet to see it.

  • guli

JP’s are such caring and giving folks! What happened in Haiti is devastating and if trolls try to spam this will show how shallow and dense they are……errrrr ….yeah , I know they are but I am hoping for once they will prove me wrong!!!

  • lys

This is not the time to be hating on anyone. This country needs serious help after this ridiculously strong earthquake. IT was felt all the way in Venezuela!!! All are affected, rich, poor and middle class. Houses there are made of concrete, built to withstand hurricanes – ironically, the worst type of material for earthquakes because it doesn’t allow stuctures to move/bounce and is super heavy, making it harder t pull people out.

So please, lets forget about why anyone might hate Brangelina, what matters is that they’re giving, and I hope everyone here will also give $5 to help out.

  • Marieme

Hollywood is always so great when it comes to providing aid/assistance and no surprise Brange is helping lead the way. Rest assured Haiti, these hard workers – celebrity and otherwise – will do all they can to make sure orgs are being supported and are releasing funds.

Damn, I had some things I wanted to snark about, but it doesn’t seem appropriate right now.

  • Ozzie

Angie and Brad are expressing their sorrow and offering aid and help…why is that a bad thing?

Anything that highlights the suffering and total devastation in Haiti is a good thing, well one would think so.

I know from our very own natural disaster last February (Black Saturday), that all aid and help that came from all round the World was very much appreciated. As were the words of comfort.

I commend AJ/BP for their continuing efforts in helping those less fortunate than others. These lovely people are vulnerable and in need of our compassion and help in any form. I have donated through the Red Cross Australia. Red Cross Australia are asking for donations of…money, clothes (male, female and kids), bedding and toys. As kids need to be safe and play. It helps them overcome trauma.

The scenes on the news are just so terrifying. People are dead missing and all you hags can do is whinge!

You hags make me sick and so very ashamed to be a member of the human race at times. Also, the utter evilness that is spewed and perpetrated on behalf of JA… I have no words. But I am a great believer in ‘what comes around, goes around’.

  • Sally

love this couple so much. they understand the true meaning of losing your life to such disasters and i hope they continue their humanitarian efforts.

  • Marieme

‘The Lives of Others’ director to helm ‘The Tourist’ with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.”

Just found this on EW. This film is going to rock! This German director is hugely talented and TLOO was so damn good. They said filming will begin in Spring.

  • hollywoodgossip

    they’re I love them

  • Marieme

Poor Lynn. Don’t leave. We’ll remember you as capital LYNN.

  • AreYouKiddingMe

I normally can’t stand this couple, but props to them. Keep up with the good humanitarian efforts.

  • umm

My prayers go out to the Haitian people, I will donate to help.

  • Jill

CNN commented that the entire Caribbean region is on a tsunami watch because tidal waves often follow earthquakes. I am holding my breath and praying it doesn’t happen. I have a lot of friends who have family in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
I totally support Brad and Angie’s help for the victims of this disaster. Haiti is one of the poorest countries on the planet and one of the least able to deal with a calamity of this magnitude.

Yeah Jill, and everyone knows when it comes to natural disasters, you get out early, right off the bat, in terms of help and donations – as time goes by people tend to think it’s less urgent, or that other entities might be helping and they aren’t needed as much – Brad & Ange are to be commended for pledging help right off the bat.

  • http://hotmailaustralia paras

you don’t understand cause you are a dip stick.

  • http://hotmailaustralia laila

Brad and Angelina are such fantastic people, how many of the other celebrities come right out of the wood works immediately and offer their help and support.
