Michael Fassbender Covers 'GQ' June 2012

Michael Fassbender takes the cover of GQ‘s June issue, on newsstands May 22.

Here’s what the 35-year-old actor had to share:

On living in East London: “I always liked the energy ’round here. Traditionally more of a working-class area. A bit of an edginess to it, as well. And the parks are everywhere here. I always just felt like this was the right spot for me.”

On his big break in 2007, landing in Steve McQueen‘s Hunger: “There was something funny about that year. I realized that year somebody left the door open. I’m kind of superstitious – I was born in 1977, it was 2007. I just felt something in my bones.”

On campaigning during award season: “At the beginning people [say], ‘You’re going to be going to the Oscars,’ and you’re like, ‘Whatever, doesn’t matter, don’t think so.’ But after a while it does penetrate. After a while you’re like, ‘Anyway, so I’m going to the Oscars …’ And you start to believe it. And I did. I thought I was going. And then I found out I wasn’t and I was upset. I was very upset by it. The first reaction was, ‘What the f— …?’ It’s a vanity thing. It does become important to you. And it shouldn’t. A good little lesson.”

# 1

he’s looking good

# 2

This man is hotter than hell. Enough said!

# 3

Thumbs up for him being so honest about the oscars thing. A very small number of actors would admit that. And i was wtf as well when i saw he was not nominated. I guess Hollywood is still too uptight to appreciate his performance in Shame.

# 4

A little disappointed…I mean this is like his fifteenth cover and interview so far this year. He refers to learning his lesson and yet he jumps right back into the publicity machine? He’s 35 but behaving more like 25.

# 5

Wait I’m confused. He’s promoting a movie next month. Of course he’s back in the publicity machine. That’s what actors do.

# 6

He would be a fabulous Christen Grey

# 8

he is a dream, talented and good looking wat more can ya want.

thanks JJ

best actor in the world right now!

And nice **** too. Have you guys seen him in shame? Omg…. So hot!

YES!!! He is so damn sexy… This will make two GQ covers I have picked up back to back- Derrick and Now Michael. I can’t wait!

I just watched Shame few days ago. Beautiful movie. A little awkward in the beginning, but what a tremendous job by all the actors.

@ofhie: Oooh he so would!!!!

Honest and loves East London while the londoners themselves hide it?! it makes him very likeable on top of being an excellent and charismatic actor.

*waves at Joseph Fassbender reading us*

I heart Michael fassbender.

He learned his lesson about not believing the hype, when someone promises him awards etc. Plus he learned that awards and all that jazz should not be as important to him as other things, e.g. quality of his work etc. It has nothing to do with doing promotion for his next movie. Of course he is doing publicity, it’s his job. I don’t understand what you don’t understand, really. If anything, that’s you acting like 15 years old, who don’t understand what is written.
