Future of 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Reboot Uncertain After Writers Exit Project

Production on Disney’s planned Pirates of the Caribbean reboot is now stalled and in “uncertain waters,” Deadline confirmed on Thursday (February 14).

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the Deadpool writing team who were tapped to work on the script for the project, are no longer working on the forthcoming sixth installment in the franchise.

“Some say a search is already underway for viable replacement options, others say the once-proud flagship of Disney’s live-action fleet may be headed to dry-dock for good,” according to the report.

There have also been some discussions about a potential TV series based on the hit franchise, although nothing has been confirmed.
