Get to Know 'Cut Season' Singer Gia Woods With These 10 Fun Facts! (Exclusive)

Gia Woods is one of the most exciting artists on the rise, and we want our Just Jared readers to get to know her even better.

The 23-year-old Los Angeles-born queer Persian singer has carved out her own lane in the music industry, beginning with her bold debut single, 2016′s “Only a Girl,” which found her coming out to the world, including her close friends and family.

Today (October 9), Gia is sharing her debut EP Cut Season, a collection of eight tracks, including “Hungry” and “All I Know,” following the end of a four-year relationship and the loss of her father that “sum up all of the reasons she needed to dispose of not only the toxic people she had in her life, but also the cycles she had within herself: egos, naivety, self-sabotage.”

We’re not the only ones taking notice of Gia Woods, either: she was recently selected as a Savage X Fenty ambassador, and also featured in Calvin Klein‘s Pride collection.

• 1. English isn’t my first language, Farsi is. I didn’t learn English until 2nd grade. It took me a minute to get the hang of it.
• 2. I came out to my family through my first music video. I’m still not sure if they believe it.
• 3. I’m Persian but I was born and raised in LA. I’ve lived in LA my whole life.
• 4. I’m a Gemini to my core, like it’s actually scary how perfectly I fit the Gemini description. I was never one to believe in astrology completely but over time I’ve definitely been won over.
• 5. I have 3 half siblings but I’m technically an only child.

• 6. I’m a huge Madonna fan, she’s by far my biggest icon. I grew up listening to her and she’s still my go to artist for inspo.
• 7. I was the queen of handball as a kid. Definitely a hidden talent of mine!
• 8. I used to wanna marry Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day…probably my only male exception.
• 9. My favorite spot to escape to in the LA area is Malibu. I love spending time at the beaches or the lookouts there. It’s also my go to area to hang out at when I’m sad or need some time alone.
• 10. My favorite season is cut season. ;) It’s basically a season of your life where you cut out all the unnecessary people and bulls–t out of your life. It’s also the title of my debut EP, which I’m so excited to finally release!
