Ben Platt Shares Video from His 'West Side Story' Movie Audition

Ben Platt is giving his fans a peek inside the audition process for a movie musical!

The 23-year-old Tony-winning actor just sent in an audition tape to play the role of Tony in the upcoming movie version of West Side Story, set to be directed by Steven Spielberg.

“Actors spend lots of time making tapes that never see the light of day- usually embarrassing, poorly shot ones. This one I liked (it’s still poorly shot) so I’m sharing it- I encourage fellow actors to do the same so long as the material is public stuff 😊,” Ben wrote on Twitter.

In the video, Ben sings the song “Maria.” He previously sang the West Side Story song “Somewhere” during a performance at the Grammys in January.

Zoey Deutch Is Pretty in Pink at 'Flower' L.A. Premiere!

Zoey Deutch looks lovely on the red carpet at the premiere of her movie Flower on Tuesday (March 13) at the ArcLight in Hollywood.

If you don’t get the pretty in pink reference in our title, Zoey‘s dad Howard Deutch is the director of the classic movie Pretty in Pink!

Zoey was joined at the premiere by co-stars Adam Scott, Tim Heidecker, and Joey Morgan, writer-director Max Winkler, her mom Lea Thompson, and Max‘s dad Henry Winkler.

Some other famous stars who stepped out to show their support included Aubrey Plaza, Ben Platt, Jack Antonoff, Odessa Young, Debby Ryan, and Aly Michalka.

Zoey will be attending some screenings in Los Angeles this weekend to do Q&As with the audiences, so make sure to buy your tickets now!

Nick Robinson, Katherine Langford, & Alexandra Shipp Team Up for 'Love, Simon' Screening

Nick Robinson looked sharp at a special screening of his new movie Love, Simon last night!

The 22-year-old Everything, Everything actor suited up for the event – hosted by 20th Century Fox and Wingman – at The Landmark at 57 West on Thursday (March 8) in New York City.

He was joined by his co-stars Alexandra Shipp and Katherine Langford, as well as director Greg Berlanti and soundtrack executive producer Jack Antonoff.

Also in attendance were Molly Ringwald, Dear Evan Hansen‘s Ben Platt, DallasJosh Henderson, Gotham‘s Erin Richards and Cory Michael Smith, All the Money in the World‘s Charlie Plummer, Riverdale‘s Haley Law, fashion designer Rachel Roy, and model Alex Lundqvist.

Love, Simon follows a 17-year old high schooler who has yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay while he attempts to discover the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.

Ben Platt & Anthony Rapp Step Out To Support 'The Low Road' Opening Night!

Ben Platt and Anthony Rapp are dapper as they hit the red carpet at the opening night party for The Low Road held at The Public Theater on Wednesday (March 7) in New York City.

The 24-year-old actor and Anthony, 46, were joined at the event by Danny Burstein, Annaleigh Ashford, Joe Tapper and Annie Parisse, as well as the stars of the Off-Broadway play Harriet Harris, Chukwudi Iwuji, Chris Perfetti, Daniel Davis, Tessa Albertson, Susannah Perkins, Danny Wolohan, Crystal Dickinson, Aaron Michael Ray and Johnny Newcomb.

Billed as a “parable about the true cost of inequality,” the play follows the young man’s path to riches at whatever cost.

It was recently announced that Ben has landed his first movie role after his Tony win for Dear Evan Hansen!

Ben Platt Books First Movie Role After His Tony Win!

Ben Platt will be starring in the upcoming movie Love & Oatmeal, his first big screen role since winning a Tony Award for his work in Dear Evan Hansen.

The 24-year-old actor recently won a Grammy for Dear Evan Hansen, has been working on his debut solo album, and booked the upcoming Ryan Murphy series The Politician.

Love & Oatmeal follows “Scott, a twenty-something aspiring writer who, in the wake of his father’s sudden death, sees his dream of moving to Paris put in jeopardy when he is forced to temporarily take in his wildly unpredictable, mentally ill sister,” according to Variety.

Ben has previously been seen on the big screen in Pitch Perfect.
