James Charles is speaking out for the first time about a lawsuit against him filed by a former employee.
The 21-year-old YouTube star and beauty guru is being sued by ex-employee Kelly Rocklein, who worked as his video editor and then as his producer. She is claiming wrongful termination and there are also claims about poor treatment, failure to provide overtime pay, and more. James says he feels like he’s being blackmailed by her.
“For those who are not aware, for the last two years I’ve been dealing with an ongoing lawsuit from one of my previous employees,” James said in a video on Twitter, which was posted on Monday night (May 10).
He continued, “This is something that I have never spoken about, never mentioned because I wanted to keep it private out of respect for her and the fact that it’s literally an ongoing litigation. But now she’s speaking about it which is just perfect timing considering everything else that’s going on.”

Two weeks after taking accountability for inappropriate messages with minors, James Charles says there are now false allegations being made against him.
The 21-year-old YouTube star and beauty mogul previously admitted that he sent flirtatious messages to underage boys, who he thought were over 18 at the time.
In a new statement released on Friday night (April 16), James addressed the “many other people” who have come forward with allegations against him in the time since then.
“Accountability is something that I have spoken about a number of times in the past. In my most recent video, I spoke about and took accountability for my part in conversations I had with a few individuals who told me they were over the age of 18. As I said in that video, I can’t show change overnight but will overtime,” James said on Twitter. “Since posting that video, many other people have come forward with a series of misleading stories and false allegations which have been reported on by many people, creators, and news outlets. My legal team has begun taking action against those that have spread misinformation and/or created completely fake stories, as this has gone too far.”
James also revealed that he has lost a business relationship because of the allegations.

The 21-year-old YouTuber posted a video called “holding myself accountable” on Thursday (April 1).

“In case anybody isn’t aware of what’s going on, within the past couple of weeks two different people both under the age of 18 have recently come forward saying that they had inappropriate messages with me on social media,” he said.
He went on to say that he began chatting with two people, both of whom he added on SnapChat. He says he was told and believed them to be 18, until he later found out they were actually 16.

James Charles is responding to allegations that he groomed a 16-year-old boy.
The 21-year-old YouTube star and beauty mogul revealed in a statement posted to Twitter that he started talking to someone who told him that he was 18. After some flirtation, James discovered the guy was actually 16 and then cut off communication with him because he was uncomfortable with the situation.
“There’s a video going around about me on TikTok and Twitter of a guy calling me a groomer and I want to address it right away. The accusation that I have groomed this person is completely false,” James said.
He continued, “Last week, I came across someone on my Instagram explore page, saw he followed me, and added him on Snapchat. The next morning, I woke up to several snaps from this person being excited I added him back, saying he loved me, and also lewd photos of himself in the shower. I asked how old he was right away and he told me he was 18 so I started flirting back.”
