Benedict Cumberbatch Honored at Walk of Fame Star Ceremony & Speaks On Ukraine: 'We Need To Act'

Benedict Cumberbatch steps on his official star during his Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Ceremony in Hollywood on Monday afternoon (February 28).

The 45-year-old actor was joined by wife Sophie Hunter at the event, as well as his Power of the Dog co-star, Kodi Smit McPhee.

After being feted by Kevin Feige and J.J. Abrams at the ceremony, Benedict spoke to the crowd about the honor, and honored his sister, Tracy, who passed away last year.

“I want to mention my sister who we lost last year,” he said. “She would have loved this. She was unbelievably loyal, supportive, and she would have loved the glitz and the oddness and the glamour. She would have just been laughing nonstop all the way through, and probably crying.”

Benedict added: “I hope somewhere up there, where the real stars shine, you’re looking down on this moment now. I’m sure you are. We miss you so much. You remain such a good and wonderful person to have had in our lives.”

He also spoke and highlighted the conflict in Ukraine.

“I can’t speak today at this amazing moment in my life, on this extraordinary platform, without acknowledging the obvious of what’s happening in the Ukraine and to show my support for the people of Ukraine, my support for the people of Russia who are opposing the Kleptocracy and the idiocy of their rulers to try and halt the progression of this atrocity,” he noted.

He went on, saying that “we need to act” and go beyond just prayers and thoughts: “we need to go on to embassy websites, we need to see what we can do as citizens of the world, citizens of Europe and people who want a better place and a better outcome for this horrendous moment for these people with children, with families who are struggling to survive as rockets rain down on their cities.”

FYI: Benedict wore Dior for the occasion. Kodi wore a custom Bottega Veneta look, Emanuele Bicocchi necklace, Hirotaka earring and Martyre rings.

J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Creates 20-Page Guide on Dismantling White Supremacy at Work & at Large

J.J. Abrams and his production company Bad Robot are hard at work supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and the fight against white supremacy.

The 53-year-old filmmaker, who directed films in the Star Wars franchise and created such TV shows as Lost and Alias, already committed to donating $10 million to anti-racist agendas over the next five years.

Now, Bad Robot has created a 20-page guide that serves as a tool to help dismantle white supremacy at work and at large.

“At Bad Robot, we are committed as storytellers and executives to dismantling white supremacy at work and at large,” the document reads. “With this ever-evolving and far from complete guide, we hope to share some resources to explore and navigate this time for ourselves and with each other as we strive to do the delicate, raw, humbling, and enraging work of anti-racism.”

The company noted, “We have provided attribution to our sources throughout the guide and thank the activists and scholars who have endeavored to consolidate this information. This guide draws from our networks, research, recommendations, and the “Anti-racism resources for white people.”

The guide features articles to read, videos to watch, podcasts to listen to, movies to view, and important Black voices to follow on social media. There is also a guide to anti-racist vocabulary, details of what you should do as a manager at work, and a list of ways people can help the cause.
