'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Director Talks Film's Deleted Scenes

Star Wars super fans have noticed that some scenes that appeared in various trailers and TV spots did not appear in The Force Awakens.

Director J.J. Abrams did an interview with EW, where he pointed to two specific scenes that did not make the cut.

“There’s a shot where Kylo Ren turns on his lightsaber, which was also not in the movie,” J.J. said. “There were a bunch of things we ended up not using.”

Another scene that did not make the cut is Maz Kanata (played by Lupita Nyong’o) giving the Skywalker lightsaber to Carrie Fisher’s General Leia.

“That was a scene actually filmed, but we took out. At one point, Maz used to continue along with the characters back to the Resistance base, but we realized that she really had nothing to do there of value, except to be sitting around,” J.J. continued. J.J. also acknowledged a moment in the trailer where the Millennium Falcon crashes into some trees with Rey in the driver’s seat. J.J. added that this was actually two different scenes that they combined to create the trailer.

Did Daisy Ridley Get Any Advice from Harrison Ford About 'Star Wars'? Find Out Here!

Daisy Ridley shows off her cool patterned dress at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere held at the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel on Friday night (December 11) in Urayasu, Japan.

The 23-year-old actress joined her co-stars John Boyega, Adam Driver, BB-8 and director J.J. Abrams

Harrison [Ford] talked to me about anonymity, and he mentioned it last night. I never really asked them anything, ’cause I wanted to feel like I was just, 1) not bugging people, and 2) kind of just doing my own thing, which I don’t know if it was the best thing to do,,” Daisy shared with Refinery29 about any advice she got from the original film’s cast.

She added, “Now, it’s like, I’ve got all the questions and I don’t know if I’ve got time before it comes out! [Laughs] But they were all an example of how to behave on set and how important this has been in their lives — the way they came back [to do The Force Awakens] with such enthusiasm and such love for it.”

Daisy is also pictured arriving back at LAX airport in Los Angeles and taking pics with a sweet little fan!

FYI: Daisy is wearing a Mary Katrantzou dress and EF Collection jewelry. John is wearing Supra sneakers at the press conference.

J.J. Abrams Reveals Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda Wrote Music for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote the movie on Monday (November 30).

On the show, the 49-year-old director made a huge reveal about the music in the film!

“I saw Hamilton, the play, which is amazing. It’s an incredible musical. Beyond belief! I go to see this show with our son and at intermission, Lin-Manuel Miranda who wrote it and conceived it and normally stars in it—he wasn’t in it that night—comes up to me and he says hello. And my mind is blown because he’s so brilliant. And he says, ‘Hey, if you need music for the cantina, I’ll write it.’ And walks off. I’m like, ‘Does he know?’” J.J. told Jimmy Fallon.

“Basically, we have a scene that’s sort of our version of the cantina scene. John Williams, the master composer, said, ‘J.J., baby, I’d rather not write the music for that scene because I’d rather write the score.’ I end up e-mailing Lin-Manuel Miranda and I say, ‘I know you were kidding but if you actually want to write this music, I’m actually working on something if you want.’ He’s like, ‘I’ll drop everything!’ I’m like, ‘All right!’” J.J. continued. Amazing!
