NBC previously canceled the show after two seasons and while there were hopes that Peacock was going to pick it up for a third season, the show ultimately was considered to be over.
Now, a new network/streamer is nearing a deal to pick up the show for a two-hour wrap-up movie, which could also lead into a potential third season.
While promoting his new series, Mr. Mayor, the 73-year-old actor opened up about the secret to his long marriage with Mary, who he’s been married to for 25 years.
“I’m in love. We’re in love. That handles a lot,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “We make each other laugh. I admire her…If I could be a woman, I’d want to be her.”
Ted adds that they also “delight in each other, and we’re pretty disciplined about being celebratory of what we have.”
Mary and Ted met on the set of Pontiac Moon in 1993 and married in 1995.
Ted also shared that Mary is the one helping him learn lines for Mr. Mayor which will premiere tomorrow, January 7 on NBC, and shared a funny story about it.
“You know, she’s the worst line runner for our show ’cause she has hysterics and laughs,” he shared. “It takes forever for me to learn anything because she insists on doing all of Holly [Hunter]‘s lines, you know, ’cause she thinks they’re so funny. So, she’s terrible at that.”
The upcoming Christmas rom-com Happiest Season, starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis, will be skipping theaters and going right to streaming.
The movie was supposed to be released in theaters on November 25, right in time for the holiday season, but now it’s going to be released on Hulu that same day.
Here is the movie’s synopsis: Meeting your girlfriend’s family for the first time can be tough. Planning to propose at her family’s annual Christmas dinner – until you realize that they don’t even know she’s gay – is even harder. When Abby (Stewart) learns that Harper (Davis) has kept their relationship a secret from her family, she begins to question the girlfriend she thought she knew.

It was essential to Sony Pictures and to the filmmakers that Clea’s marvelous and fresh holiday-themed romantic comedy come out when the lights are on the trees. We are excited that Hulu is geared up to make this happen in the U.S. and grateful that they love the movie as much as we do.”

Kristen opened up about getting to make a Christmas movie from a new perspective.
“I think I’ve wished to see a gay Christmas rom com my whole life,” Kristen told People. “I’m so happy and proud of Clea for bringing this into the world.”
“I love when holiday movie makes you long for an idea of home, but also examines how hilarious and hard reality at home can be sometimes,” she added.
NBC has announced that Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist has been renewed for a second season!
The series centers on Jane Levy‘s Zoey Clarke, who goes through an unusual event and begins to hear the inner thoughts of people around her though popular songs.
SPOILER ALERT: At the end of the first season, Peter‘s character passed away following a battle with the neurological disease progressive supranuclear palsy.
“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who fell in love with Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and how much joy it brought to everyone,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring it back and can’t wait to see how Zoey’s journey continues.”
