Christina Aguilera Debuts 'Loyal Brave True' From Disney's Live-Action 'Mulan' - Listen!

Christina Aguilera‘s new music for Disney’s upcoming live-action Mulan is starting to arrive!

The Lotus singer debuted a new song from the soundtrack, “Loyal Brave True,” on Friday (March 6).

Not only is Christina releasing this new song, but she’ll also be releasing a re-recorded version of her classic Mulan song “Reflection.” Both songs will be featured in the film and on the soundtrack. The song was also released in Spanish, as “El Mejor Guerrero.”

“Loyal Brave True” was written by Jamie Hartman, Harry Gregson-Williams, Rosi Golan and Billy Crabtree, and produced by Jamie Hartman.

Christina is one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Her original performance of ‘Reflection’ from the animated film when she was a then 16-year-old unknown, holds its appropriate place in the history of music and was a launch pad for her unparalleled career that would follow. As this epic live-action version of Mulan heads to theaters, Christina brings her innate abilities and years of growth as an artist to the film, reprising ‘Reflection’ and performing the new song ‘Loyal Brave True.’ I think these songs will touch today’s moviegoers in that powerful way we saw 22 years ago,” said Disney exec Mitchell Leib.

“The film Mulan and the song ‘Reflection’ coincided with getting me my first record deal. It’s amazing to come back to such an incredible movie that’s full of power and meaning, and that meaning holds the test of time: staying true to yourself, being who you are, and teaching how to be fearless. My new song, ‘Loyal Brave True,’ represents the fine balance between vulnerability and strength,” said Christina.

Here's Why Li Shang Is Not in the 'Mulan' Live-Action Movie

The live-action version of Mulan is hitting theaters in one month and a beloved character from the animated Disney film will not be featured.

Li Shang, the captain who becomes Mulan’s love interest, is not a character in the live-action movie directed by Niki Caro.

“We split Li Shang into two characters. One became Commander Tung (Donnie Yen) who serves as her surrogate father and mentor in the course of the movie. The other is Honghui (Yoson An) who is [Mulan’s] equal in the squad,” producer Jason Reed said in an interview with Collider. “I think particularly in the time of the #MeToo movement, having a commanding officer that is also the sexual love interest was very uncomfortable and we didn’t think it was appropriate.”

BD Wong, the actor who voiced Li Shang in the animated movie, recently opened up about the movie.

“I’m interested in it. I feel no ownership over the original movie,” BD told EW. “I’m very proud to have been in that movie. It was one of the last movies they made where they actually drew the pictures, it was at the frontier of a time when Asian-American actors claiming Asian roles in voiceover became a thing. In a way that was really foreign to people before that, to have so many of the lead parts in that movie be played by Asian actors.”
