Eddie Redmayne Auditioned (& Didn't Get) This Role in 'Harry Potter' Films!
Eddie Redmayne is starring in this month’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them…but this wasn’t the first Harry Potter film he wanted to star in!
The 34-year-old actor revealed in a recent interview with USA Today that he originally auditioned for the original Harry Potter film series about 15 years ago for the role of Tom Riddle. If you don’t know, Tom is actually Lord Voldemort and the name “Tom Riddle” is the name he was given at birth.
“I think I got about three lines into my audition, and it was with the assistant to the assistant,” Eddie told the publication. Eddie also recently dished on his failed Star Wars audition.
In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the role eventually went to actor Christian Coulson. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the role was played by Frank Dillane.
