The 42-year-old director has had success on both the small screen and the stage, with several awards to his name. Here are five fast facts about him:

• 1. Thomas helped create the musical Hamilton! He won a Tony Award for directing the smash hit musical, which was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He also directed the writer and actor’s show In the Heights.
• 2. Not only has Thomas had success on Broadway, he also has an Emmy Award for directing the Grease: Live special for Fox.
• 3. Thomas and Michelle met while working together on the FX limited series Fosse/Verdon. He directed several episodes while she played the lead role of Gwen Verdon.
• 4. This will be Thomas‘ second marriage. He was previously married to actress Angela Christian, who can be seen in the gallery. It’s not known when they split, but they were last seen together on a red carpet in December 2018.
• 5. Thomas has been best friends with Lin-Manuel since the early 2000s. They first collaborated on the improv show Freestyle Love Supreme, which was just turned into a Broadway show. They went on to work together on In The Heights, Hamilton, and Fosse/Verdon.
