Glastonbury Festival 2020 Cancelled Due To Coronavirus Pandemic!

The U.K.’s Glastonbury Music Festival has been canceled due to coronavirus concerns.

The festival confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday that the event, which was set to take place from 24-28 June at its usual home of Worthy Farm in Somerset, was off “following the new government measures announced this week – and in times of such unprecedented uncertainty – this is now our only viable option.”

This was to be the 50th-anniversary edition of Glastonbury, and the bill included Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney, Diana Ross, Pet Shop Boys, Dua Lipa, and Noel Gallagher among many others. The festival organizers didn’t unveil the full lineup until last week, and they wrote that they had “fingers firmly crossed” that the festival would be able to happen as planned.

Also in the letter posted on Twitter this morning, festival founder Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily said that although they hoped the situation in the UK would have improved by the end of June, it was not viable to spend the next three months with thousands of crew on the farm, and 2020 would therefore be “an enforced fallow year. We are so sorry to announce this, but Glastonbury 2020 will have to be cancelled, and this will be an enforced fallow year for the festival.”
