Spirit Awards 2021 - Ceremony's Postponed Date Revealed Amid Pandemic
The 2021 Film Independent Spirit Awards now has a date.
The ceremony, dedicated to independent filmmakers, will be taking place on April 24, 2021, organizers confirmed on Tuesday (June 16) amid the global health crisis.

The news comes just after it was revealed that the 2021 Academy Awards ceremony, which was originally supposed to air on February 28, 2021, has been pushed to April 25, 2021.
The annual event always takes place one day before the Oscars on Saturday afternoon near the Santa Monica Pier.
“The Film Independent Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Additionally, we will recognize films that were released between January 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021 in acknowledgement of the unique challenges the world of cinema, and the world as a whole, is currently experiencing,” Josh Welsh, President of Film Independent, said in a statement, via Deadline.
